what would happen if i did a2 b2 a'2 b'2 also what does this mean for new methods based on commutators.

Can you explain what you mean by a2 b2 a'2 b'2?

Double comms, to my knowledge, refer to 2 commutators that cancel together. For example, for 4x4, [l', R U R' U'] [R U R' U', r] which cancels to l' R U R' U' l r U R U' R' r, which you would use to solve the 2 wing pieces for the UB edge (K4LL).

lets say a = R U R' U' so a2 would be R U R' U' R U R' U'
