I remember a small group of folks years ago deciding they would learn all 500 algorithms...

Has anyone been successful in implementing it as his or her normal method?

ME.

EDIT: Click my youtube link to see a ZBLL avg of 5.
And a bunch of other ZBLL videos, tricks, mini-tutorials, and even a sub-method called ZBLD which orients corners whilst permuting and orienting edges at once depending on which variant.

I actually already looked at your livejournal earlier today...

I guess I am confused about the distinction between ZZ and ZB.

So you've memorized all 500 algs? ;)

I would love to watch the videos except that I live in China where it's illegal to access you.tube.

So the last layer is the same, but ZZ is sort of like the Petrus or Roux method, and uses a different technique for getting the edges oriented?

In ZZ, you orient the edges and place 2 cross pieces (DF and DB) as your first step instead going for a cross (called EOLine). Then you build your F2L pairs and final cross pieces without using certain open slot tricks (keeping the cube <R,L,U> solvable), then continue with an edges-oriented last layer.

Cride has a great website on ZZ and EOLine in particular. blah has a nice video tutorial on the EOLine as well.

Wait what's that method called where you orient the LL while solving the last slot? Was that MGLS? Until recently I thought that was ZZ...

Oh, and Cubes=Life has it, I think Jason Baum also has it.
