CW Edge 3-Cycle and CCW Edge 3-Cycle Confusion!

If you use the algs that cycle UL, UF, and UR, then here is what I do.

Look at the sticker on the right side, if it is opposite of the face its on (e.g. blue sticker on green face, orange sticker on red face etc.) then it is a counter clockwise cycle. if not, then its clockwise. simple as that.

Just a simple relationship between a pair of corners that share a similar color. What path do your corners cycle when you hold cube and do those algorithms? Like FR->BR->BL or FL-FR-BR, in other words do you have 2 unsolved corners in the front or back when you do them (disregard this)

Oh for some reason I thought you meant corners... sorry. I do basically what Vault said. Look at the edge on the right or left faces and quickly tell if it is opposite or adjacent colors to the face that its currently on.

Here's the way I see it:

If you're going to cycle CW, your first U turn will be clockwise.
Therefore, you do R2 U R U R' U' R' U' R' U R'

If you're going to cycle CCW, your first U turn will be counterclockwise.
Thus, R U' R U R U R U' R' U' R2
