Howdy,

I am pretty new to the cubing community. I started solving the cubes in January and currently have a personal best of 57.44 seconds.

I am pretty well versed in F2L and have just finished learning 2 Look OLL and PLL. I am quick with 2 look OLL but still learning 2 Look PLL.

My personal best time was set using F2L and beginner's method last layer.

I started off with a Rubik's Brand, then after trying to break it in, ended up buying some Maru lube to lube it with. I thought the Maru lube made my Rubik's brand feel like heaven... that is until I got into trying to learn some finger tricks and realized Rubik's brand is not finger trick friendly.

At that point, I bought a DIY guhong, performed the ultimate guhong mod w/ 48 point edge mod and have not looked back since.

You can see my entire cube collection in my signature, although it isn't very extensive. I'm buying at least 3 new cubes this month.

Finally, I am going to try and attend my first cubing competition in April when the Dallas Open invades Dallas. I am from San Antonio, TX, but I am going to drive up to Dallas with my wife to be a part of the activities.

I know I won't win, but just getting my name logged and being a part of the community will be a great experience, I think.

Anyway, I don't post alot, but I do read alot and will continue to do so on my journey to sub-30 cubing.

Well, all I can say is... KEEP THE LIFE-STYLE! Cubing is awesome, and the community is awesome and... Did I mention cubing is awesome? Anyhow, I think it's great that you are going to your competition already, and the only advice I can really give you is: PRACTICE! And when you are done with that, redo it :)

Best of luck at the competition :)

Welcome! im going to that competition too, i would like to say hi to you and your wife, but how will i know you there?

See you there! Have you gotten any faster in the past 2 weeks?

I've gotten a tiny bit faster. My fastest single solve is now 47.29 but I am still averaging about 1 minute. I know I won't do very well in the competition, but I just want to go there and be a part of the events.

I'll very likely be wearing my Star Wars shirt. It's kinda brownish. Also, I might be the only guy there with a Panamanian wife, so just look for the light skinned mexican guy with the dark skinned panamian girl, lol.
