Hey would anyone here be interested in competing in a computer cube tournament (single-elimination) using http://www.ryanheise.com/cube/speed/?

I was thinking about having best of 3 for the first few rounds, best of 5 for quarters, best of 7 for semis, and finally best of 9 (or even 19? :p) for the grand final.

To even things out, we could give people handicaps so that we all stand a good chance of winning. e.g. someone who has a 20 sec avg could have a 5 secs handicap or something. However, I think if there will be handicaps, it might be hard to decide what the handicap should be for those who improving fast.

After you have finished a battle with someone, you could post the results here e.g. Mike Hughey 2-0 Andy Tsao

If there are too many competitors for the first round, we could simply allow a certain number of faster cubers to skip the first round.

After the tournament, we could draw up a table with the rankings.

If this tournament becomes popular, it could become a monthly thing? :)

@byu: :S I don't know, that's a hard question for me for some reason...

EDIT: Sorry if this is in the wrong section, I forgot about the help, support and suggestions sub-forum.

Nah, I don't think so. The computer cube sub-forum doesn't exist (yet?), so this is good. Also, I think this is a good idea, but for it to be fun we *will* need a *lot* of competitors. Otherwise, the competition is out and you have a final between someone with a 12 sec average and someone with a 30 sec average, which wouldn't be fun.

(Assuming you meant me and just misspelled my name,) it's going to take a VERY big handicap for this particular example to ever happen. :)

But I will admit it might be a lot of fun, if enough people participate.
