Wasn't sure where to post this (Official WCA Competitions, or Video Gallery, or create a blog entry), so decided to go with Video Gallery.
So, after 3 months of cubing, I finally attended my first competition. It was the CMI Fiesta Open 2013, held at the Chennai Mathematical Institute on the 29th and 30th of March (day before yesterday and yesterday).
That being said, here are some videos of me solving at the competition:
If someone could give me the scrambles I would be very thankful

So, after 3 months of cubing, I finally attended my first competition. It was the CMI Fiesta Open 2013, held at the Chennai Mathematical Institute on the 29th and 30th of March (day before yesterday and yesterday).
It was a 2 hour journey from my home (omg) and registration had to be done within 8 AM and 10 AM. Had to leave home at 6 AM (omg).
First event of the day was MBLD. I was amazed! I was a scrambler and I judged the delegate haha. I knew most of them from cube meets and yeah, so it didn't take a long time for me to get involved. Nikhil Mande ("mande" on the forums) attempted 12 cubes
I don't know the result, I left the MBLD hall before the event got over.
Second event was Square-1, I witnessed the NR average being broken by Nikhil Panju ("Outsmash" on the forums). He beat the previous NR average by 4 seconds. I even caught it on film, but others had too, so I won't upload it.
Many people turned up
Next was 3x3 prelims, my event
I felt a bit nervous when my name was called out. I went, and here's what happened. My first official avg
25.86, 19.35, 20.07, 25.92, 24.21 = 23.38
I was so happy! I went aiming for a 26 something and got a 23 average and a sub-20 single! Yay!
Next was 2x2. Cutoff was 15 seconds.
16.15, 12.96, 11.36, 18.11, 5.33 = 13.49
Utter fail. But I didn't have a 2x2, therefore zero practice. Last solve was lucky, 3 first layer corners were completed and PLL skip.
Nithin Babu missed NR avg by some 12 centiseconds.
Pyraminx- First Round - Bhanu Savan Kodam came first with an average of 7:45 and Swaminthan Chandrasekaran (delegate) came close second with an average of 8.00.
After that, OH. Cutoff was 55 seconds.
I failed here too. First solve was 1:08 something and then it was 57 something. No average. I didn't even bother to get them on video. :fp
I left after that, but there were Square-1 and OH finals after that. I missed 3 NRs - Square-1 average once again by Nikhil Panju (Outsmash) and OH single by Bhargav Narasimhan (Bhargav777), and MBLD (2nd attempt) by Nikhil Mande (11/12 in 59:12.00, just 1 point lesser than NAR
)
I found out that the top-30 would advance to 3x3 second round, and I was placed 31. FML

Day 2 was awesome. Less people came, so it was less crowded. First event was 3BLD which I missed because I came late. Then 4x4 and 4BLD took place simultaneously. I saw NR2 (10:41.00 by Mande) and NR3 (24:19.07) by Mukunth Parthasarathy (Mukunth on the forums). I even learnt how to solve centers on a 4x4 (not BLD lol) all by myself
Then was 5x5, Sukesh Subaharan missed NR single by 41 centiseconds.
Then Megaminx, Bhargav won with an average of 1:29.37.
Then Pyraminx Finals, Bhanu Savan Kodam came first with an average of 5.84 while Swami came close second with 6.06 average.
2x2 Finals followed, with no special thing to mention.
3x3 Second Round - Some people didn't turn up, so I got a chance.
31.28, DNF, 25.03, 18.18, 25.87 = 27.39
First solve was nerves, in the second solve the timer stopped while I was solving. I got a DNF and it wasn't my fault.
If not for these two solves, I would have got at least a 25 second average
Last was 3x3 finals, Kesava Kirupa (same name on the forums) won!
Then it was prize distribution, it was awesome! I hope to attend such an awesome competition again.
Many people took videos. I even scrambled 5x5. I judged many people. It was a great experience.
The comp was organized in an awesome manner thanks to Shubhayan and Mande. It was delegated amazingly. One think I liked about this is that all WCA regulations were maintained and all guidelines were followed and even then the comp was very flexible and fun, and not formal event.
