Chris Mills broke the UK 3x3 average national record with an average of 6.77 seconds.

Since the last few months, he is attending competitions in the New Zealand, which is one of the lucky countries to have competitions.
Competition Name: NZ SIC 2021

Solves will be uploaded on his YouTube.

This is his 3rd 3x3 average NR and the first one which is sub-7. This average ranks him 41st in the world.

Congrats Chris once again!

I would like to discuss his solutions here.

1. B L U2 R L2 U' F' U B R U L2 U2 D L2 D' B2 D' B2

y x'
// inspection
U2 R2 x' U L F' // cross
//personally I would have done some ******** like z2 y F' R2' D U' R' F R2 D' (8) so I would say his cross is really smart here and was done is 0.867s which is 7 etps I think
R' U2 R U' y' R' U R // 1st pair
//first pair may not be optimal because it solves FR slot,but I would disagree as there isn't really any other good option, and this solve had incredible tps, which somewhat limits look ahead
U R y R' U' R y' R' // 2nd pair
//green/orange was a better pair, but again going back to how high tps comes at a cost
//another thing I don't like here is that this could be solved really easily as U R B' U' B R which isn't really difficult to fingertrick,but he did do it in about 0.9 seconds with about 9 tps, so no real complaints. Also, RU gen spam is usually faster than more than 2 gen solution so I guess that explains it.
U R U R' U' R U R' U' R U R' U' // 3rd pair
//again red/green with R U' R' U L' U' L might have been better, but dope lookahead + 2 gen spam = the magic that Chris Mills is
//if somehow he could answer this though I would like to know why he did triple sexy instead of triple inverse sexy
U r' R U' R' F R U M' // 4th pair
//I personally don't like these kind MRUgen F2L algs,and would personally suggest something like F U' R U' R' U2 F'
U2' R U R' U R U2' R' F R U R' U' F' // OLL(CP)
//I don't have much to say here, but I think Brian Sun would lmao
U M2 U M U2 M' U M2 U // EPLL
//I would like to highlight that this the MU alg. This will come up later.

Ordinarily when I reconstruct these solves, I add like framesplits and the times per step and stuff, but that really reduces my speed so I stopped. If this thread actually helps someone I might start again so that stuff like TPS per step is more apparent. speedcubedb has stuff like this, but it's not exactly step-by-step and I don't know why that is.

2. D2 L2 U2 B2 R' D2 B2 F2 L' U2 L U R F R2 B' R B D L

x2
// inspection
F D L U R' F' L // cross
//this cross looks really strange in the beginning but the way he sets it up flows really well when inserting all the pieces
y' U' L' U L U L U L' y' // 1st pair
//he missed the free orange/blue pair :(
//after rotating he could done the green/orange pair as well because I think that would have been faster than what he did
//this pair was the second slowest step of his solve at around 1.5s
R U' R' U' R' U' R // 2nd pair
//red/blue may have been faster because so many rotations
U' R U R' y R' U R // 3rd pair
//he rotates smartly here something beginners can really learn and practice
L' U' L // 4th pair
U2' R' F' r U' r' F r U' r' F2 R // OLL(CP)
//again, I don't understand why he didn't the rU gen alg from the first alg
R R' R' U R' U' R3 U' R' U R U R2 U' // EPLL
//you may have seen how I pointed out he did MU Uperm earlier, and then he does R3 Uperm here. This was infact his slowest step at about 1.6-1.7s, so please Chris, if you see this, just switch to MU gen.

I'm just going to skip to the fourth and fifth solves because the fourth is the fastest and Abhijeet said that first and fifth were the best solutions. The 3rd solve is just really average for him I would think.

4. D' L2 U L2 F2 D' U2 R2 F2 U' B U' L B2 F2 L' U2 L F2

z x
// inspection
r' L' D R' L' U L D2 // xcross
//really good here, nothing much to say
R U' R' U y' U R' U' R // 2nd pair
//nice solution, but I think yellow/green might have been better. I'm not CN though so idk.
//I didn't like the U y' U though, should have just done U2 on either side of that y'
L' U2 L U2' R U R' // 3rd pair
//yeah, kinda standard
U y' R U2' R' U R U' R' // 4th pair + OLL
//Nice OLL skip
U R2 U' R U' R U R' U R2 D' U R U' R' D // PLL
//I think the RUF alg might have been better from this angle, but they're pretty much the same thing.

5. U2 L' U L2 B D F2 L' F' L2 F' D2 L2 D2 F2 D2 B' R'

y2
// inspection
R2' F D F' // cross
//a really smart cross most cubers trying to get sub 12 should be very familiar with
U' L' U L // 1st pair
//yeah, nothing much to say here either. Really good.
U' L U2 L' U' L U L' // 2nd pair
//missed the blue/orange freepair again, but this time probably because he was following red/green pair
y U U L' U U L U2' L' U L // 3rd pair
//when I was reconstructing I'm pretty sure I saw U U instead of U2, so I don't understand that, but this is good
//legit this took 1.4s, could have been faster with U2 double flick
U R U R' U R U' R' U // 4th pair
//yeah, nothing much to say here either
U2' R U2 R2 F R F' R U2' R' // OLL
U' x R2 D2 R U R' D2 R U' R x' // PLL

Well, that's about it for this analysis, if I ever do another similar analysis I'll be sure to include more stats like stps/etps and movecount and frameplitted time

If Chris ever sees this, then congratulations dude. Adrien got NZNR in the same comp as well which was reconstructed by Viswath. https://www.speedcubedb.com/r/5031

Have a good day!
