Hey all, I was at a couple different local B&N stores over the holidays and noticed they carry lots of twisty puzzles including models from Rubik's, V-cube, Calvin's, and Meffert's.

I'm primarily interested in the Calvin's and Meffert's puzzles. I know for a fact they carry the Gear Ball, Square-1, 3x3x5, and Cross Cube. I tried searching the B&N website and it seems they also may sell the Dino Cube, 4x4x6, and a few others.

Are any of these puzzles "must haves". The reason I ask is because I was never really that interested in any of them except the gear ball, but the prices seem to be very good. For example the Gear Ball is only $20 and they have it on the shelf. Obvious advantage is no shipping and quick returns if I don't love it.

Anyway, kind of a PSA and a question at the same time... any that I need to check out?

To be honest, none of the puzzles on the list are definite must haves, however, the gear ball has a reputation for being a high quality, well turning puzzle and the 3x3x5 is probably one of the most popular puzzle in that list. The square-1 is a good puzzle, but if you are looking for one to speedsolve, definitely get the QiYi square-1 since it is about the same price, if not cheaper and it is definitely considered the best on the market.
If you are having problems deciding if you want any of these, definitely check out some reviews on youtube.

Thanks for the reply, that's kinda what I figured. I'll probably just hold off for now. Not supremely interested in cuboids at the moment, and the Gear Ball interested me from more of a design standpoint than anything.

I got my V-cube 3 from there just to see what V-cubes are like. I don't recommend getting any puzzles from there if you are looking for speedcubes.
