I was wondering if anyone knew where a step by step tutorial of solving a 5x5x5 cube using the cage method a centers last method. I have been unable to find a video explaining the algorithms or the algorithms needed in general. I have tried to adapt the cage method for the 4x4 but can't get edge pieces oriented correctly. Thanks Again.

The middle edge pieces work like the 3x3x3 edges, so you can do them with 3x3x3 algorithms. I'm not sure exactly how you put the cage together (there are several possible ways) but it's possible to start the solve by doing the middle edges and corners just like a 3x3x3.

Hey thanks I guess I should probably be more specific in how I'm trying to solve the cube. I would like to solve the whole top layer, then complete the bottom outside layer, and then use a facelifter algorithm to solve that center. Then just use algorithms that bring edge pieces up or down to there correct positions, and finish the centers last. The two edge piece algorithms that I used on the 4x4 were Front 2x, Bottom Middle panel to left, Front 2x, BM 2x, Front 2x, BM to right Front 2x. I use this algorithm to lift flip flopped pieces that are under the place that they need to go up to in the 2nd layer. The final algorithm I use for solving the 3rd layer is turn the third layer so only one piece is oriented correctly and Back to the left, Bottom 2x, Left down, Bottom Left, Left up, BM to the left, Left down, Bottom to the right, Left up, BM to right, Bottom 2x, Back to right. I'm sorry, I'm not very good with notation, but now I have the cube where bottom and top layers are done all the centers are done, and I only need to finish all three edge layers. I went ahead and did the centers just to see if I could do it. Thanks again now I have a little hope that I can do it but still need help.

I thought the "cage" was represented by solving everything but the centers first!?! So you could solve all tredges first and solve like a 3x3 with the center stickers as guidance. Then solve the centers by doing variations of [slice move] " R U L' U' R' U L U' "

To reiterate my question I just need help solving the three edge layers, and would be great if someone could adapt those algorithms up above because I already have them memorized.
