Bad Cubes

They can definitely stand up today. The problems you have are most likely a setup issue, because the aolong v2 is one of the best cubes ever made.
It is a good cube but it has a few problems thatean it doesn't stack up against modern speedcubing.
1) it comes in 57mm, which is too big or 54.5mm which could be too small.
2) it only has 45-50° corner cutting and 25-30° reverse which is just not good enough
3) it is rather easy to corner twist, especially on lose tensions.
4) Feliks must have has a reason for not switching after his aolongs v1 the need twisted and prevented him breaking the WR

Bit it does have that feeling I like where it's safe to turn faster in LL but also safe to be slower during F2L, that feeling I don't get from the gts2 or magnetic cubes. But even the yuxin little magic is better and alot cheaper, but it was excellent for its time.

Personal preference.

You need to work on your turning if that isn't enough for you.
3) it is rather easy to corner twist, especially on lose tensions.
Fair point.

It's almost like people don't choose which cube they use based on one solve.

The aolong v2 isn't a good cube because of any of these things, it isn't a good cube because the corners physically don't fit properly inside of the cube, making it incredibly unpleasant to solve.

The aolong v1 mini is the best cube ever made imo. Don't dismiss it, it feels nothing like the v2.
