I recently purchased a rubik's.com DIY kit, and I knew the center caps would not stay in on their own. I know there are already quite a few solutions to the problem, and I started out using the paper-squares fix, but I still had one that would not stay at all, and 2 that popped periodically.
Since I really don't want to glue them on permanently I came up with an alternative...silly putty!
It may sound dumb, but if you fill up the space behind center caps with silly putty, it holds them in. Also, when you want to tweak the screws, just grab a big chunk of putty and it comes out as a unit.
Anyway, I hope this helps anyone who had a similar problem. As far as I know it hasn't been suggested already.
*DISCLAIMER*
Doing this will probably ruin you silly putty for other purposes (mine got a lot of black specks in it)
