How do you come up with this edge orientation? Fixing 3 out of the 6 and creating another bad one, leaving you with four that you can fix easily... I never come up with this stuff, especially not in 15 seconds.

That is a common way to fix 6 bad edges. I do either this or 4 edges than 2 whenever I get six edges, whichever one is easier.
