TL;DR: if NISSY is for finding good/optimal FMC solution, is THIS for CFOP?
hi everyone!
this is an idea i had a long time ago - what if the computer would work on how to find a better/shorter solution?
i spent a majority of my time theorycrafting over 3x3 solutions, how picking a better cross or different F2L pairs will (would have?) lead to a better solution.
r/cubers had that DDT scramble of the day, where i learnt the majority of my speedcubing knowledge over solving virtual scramble with alg.cubing.net.
so here's the idea:
go to https://speedcubedb.com/analyze and enter a scramble. you can use a random one, your PR/PB scramble or any famous scramble.
pick which cross colors you'd like it to process and how far into the solve you want it to go (maybe you're looking for a good/different Cross+1?)
and hit the Analyze button.
grab a cup of coffee or do some SQ1 solves, it will take a minute or two, depending on your processor power.
have mercy, i only spent like a couple days working on it - so it's far from being optimized.
go over the solutions. best of them usually vary in the 30-40HTM range.
some of them are plain hilarious.
i don't think that doing FMCFOP by running through variations just to get skips is what will help solvers. but it does give quite a few insights.
i'm thinking about maybe modifying this tool to better help cubers who are practicing inspection, especially when the meta shifts lately to cubers predicting even 3 pairs (Tymon, Yiheng etc).
OTOH, F2L & Cross are really interesting, especially with "let's analyze solves to see if i can learn to spot better Cross+1/2 or even 3
or as with FMC, see if good solutions are reachable.
let me know what you think, if you came up with some crazy solutions of your own and ideas about how to make use of this tool to help cubers improve.
