Hey guys, I just started using Cubemania to track my times and stuff, but I gotta question. Is it okay to just solve the corners on a 3x3x3, and count it as a 2x2x2 solve?

Do what you want (just don't cheat, because that makes people angry). It's Cubemania, not an official competition.

I'd imagine it would be faster to solve the corners of a 3x3 than a 2x2 because of execution issues but heck its Cubemania

but its a little harder for PLL recognition because the edges get in the way

Yeah, permute-both-layers recognition can be rather difficult on a 3x3. Assuming you don't mind that, I don't see any problem with doing it for cubemania, since it's unofficial, so go ahead!

you could also scramble a 4x4x4 as a 2x2x2.

the only problem with that is that a rubiks 4x4x4 locks up a lot! and i don't plan on getting an eastsheen anytime soon...
