When you’re starting out, do everything intuitive. As you start getting faster, look up algs for cases that you feel are slow intuitively. Then try to understand the alg intuitively. You can also watch example solves to find better ways to do certain F2L cases.

Definitely go to a competition! It doesn’t matter how fast you are, you are going to have a great time. You will also be able to meet lots of other cubers as well!

Yeah, it’s a pretty hard fingertrick to master, but it is a very nice fingertrick to use, such as in MU U perms. I’d say practice it, it comes in handy.

Yes, I do my M2’s with my ring finger followed by middle. Also, keeping in mind that M moves follow L, so I think you have M and M’ switched. With M, people do a ring finger push at the back.

Those algs are good algs. I would recommend doing m moves with your ring finger instead and make sure that you are doing the ring finger push D’ (is you don’t already) for the headlights case.

After doing a couple of solves, a good average move count seems to be around 15, a little more or less sometimes.
