The New Method / Substep / Concept Idea Thread

Alright I have a cool (may not be good), Pyraminx method I came up with when solving. It might be used to build up to intuitive top first solving. Hope you like :D Step 1: Create a backbone whilst orienting the RD and LD edges. (2 corners around one edge Piece) in the back of the Pyraminx To...

The New Method / Substep / Concept Idea Thread

The only problem I can see in this method is how on earth are you going to orient the first layer corners. If it is in a way we’re you kind of do F2L with the E layer edges, then I think CFOP would outdo it. I just don’t think it would be easy at all to orient the first layer corners without...

The New Method / Substep / Concept Idea Thread

Yes I did briefly mention that during the document, though, for many reasons listed in the document, is slightly worse than my proposed method. Though it is a viable way to approach it especially since no Algs. Edit: It would be greatly appreciated if you guys let me know whether the 8 example...

The New Method / Substep / Concept Idea Thread

Alright so I’ve been experimenting with the PCMS method for solving a 3x3 (link below), and I noticed that the first steps for building columns are great, but realised that the Last eight edges step needs development. And with experimentation for a week, I now average 22.5 seconds with this...

Sounds good. Especially that I have a comp on in a month for extra motivation.

    What is your PB scramble?

    I can’t believe it guys! Just got my first sub 10, as it was 8.87!!!!!!!!!!!!! Although I average 17 with 4LLL, I got a 1LLL and efficient start which I dont think I’ll break for years!!!!! (Sorry guys I’m just so pumped) Try it yourself and see what you get: F' D' F' R2 B2 L2 F2 R2 D R2 D2 U'...

    [Help Thread] Puzzle Recommendations

Ok, these are the best cubes IMO and I currently own all of the ones I will recommend. 2x2: Weipo WR, Dayan Tengyun, Valk 2 3x3 GAN XS, GTS3M (dont have WRM) 4x4: Valk 4 M and GTS2M I like for different reasons Pyraminx: Xman Bell is honestly the only really good option I’ve heard. I don’t have...

    What is your PB scramble?

    I average sub 18, but I never connect on my lucky solves! I got a PB a few days a go in 12.08 seconds, but I’m sure someone else can do it quicker Scramble: B' F' D2 R2 B' D2 L2 F D2 F2 D2 U' L2 B' R F2 U' F2 U2 R Cube: GAN XS Method: CFOP 4LLL White Cross x2 y// Inspection (red front white...

I believe the list needs to be updated because it’s been three months and a lot of new releases have come out. I’ll help out by adding cubes for events I have experience with and a variety of cubes for: 2x2: Budget: YJ Yupo v2 M Great: YJ MGC Expert: Dayan Tengyun (now my main), Valk 2, Moyu...

The New Method / Substep / Concept Idea Thread

I believe this method can be subset to solve Petrus (not a Petrus solver at all, so Petrus users I’d like your critique), than just COLL+EPLL and I think it could be beneficial. 1. 2x2x3 block like Petrus in the back 2. EO (same as Petrus) 3. Last 2 F2L pairs (therefore ignoring the last cross...

How many attempts did it take to get your first 3BLD success?

Personally, I learnt it in 2 days. A few solves without memorisation just understanding set up moves and lettering, then getting into the full thing. Took around 3-4 attempts. Memo generally wasn’t hard for me, just understanding set-up moves, new cycles, and the theory helped me. Go really slow...

    [Help Thread] CFOP Discussion

100% F2L. I am currently just sub 20, so I’m not as good as you, but because i use 4LLL (i know algs suck), I average faster on cross and f2l. Cross: 2 F2L: 8 OLL: 4.5 (dont ask) PLL: 4.5 (dont ask) What I think would’ve helped me when I was averaging what you are now (for the first 2L)...

Best Way to Warm-Up your Hands before Cubing

For me I find that solving 2x2 is a great way to warm up (because of fast TPS). It basically forces you to warm up which is why, I’ve always practised 2x2 at the start of every session. I sometimes drill PLL’s if I just dont feel like doing 2x2 but I always prefer 2x2 for warmup. Hope this helps.

The New Method / Substep / Concept Idea Thread

Not sure the context, so ill answer both scenarios... If you solve with HD, you must always solve with a V on bottom when orienting corners so you dont have to separate. But if your talking about just using Guimond, then doing the separation step then PBL is the best option.

    [Help Thread] Puzzle Recommendations

Personally, I have always bought my puzzles at speedcube.com.au. Free express shipping over $100 and a rewards system. Always great service. I have contemplated buying speedcubes at dailypuzzles but in the past they haven’t had the newest hardware, and have been more expensive. I have recently...
