[Help Thread] ZBLL Discussion and Help

It took too many years, but Birdflu is back up: https://birdflu.lar5.com I might add some features.

What is the minimum number of algorithms needed for 2 look last layer?

If I remove J93/J417, only http://birdflu.lar5.com/?pos=Fo4A becomes unsolved, so that's why it's there. Kinda silly to have EO flipping algs in an EO set, but that's what dumb software will do. When I made the "tiny" sets, only <= 10 moves algs were combinable, so that's why all the algs are...

What is the minimum number of algorithms needed for 2 look last layer?

Thanks! I added those. That set does miss one position: http://birdflu.lar5.com/?pos=Cd4a (Setup: B' U2 B U' F' U B' U' F2 U' B U F') Still, that easily beats my 14 alg set by adding any alg that covers that position. The fact that I didn't have 10 of those 12 in the system shows the...

What is the minimum number of algorithms needed for 2 look last layer?

Ah yes. For an alg to be used in Combos, it needs to be prepared in the DB. The combinable ones are marked with c in the lists. Right now those are 540 mirror pairs that seemed the most useful to me. It's not hard to add more, but I have to do it manually. So let me know which ones you need...

What is the minimum number of algorithms needed for 2 look last layer?

Hi, anyone still interested in this thread! I've been working on this "Combo Algs" stuff for a while. Digging in much harder on some ideas I had 10+ years ago. I've built a web site to explore this, and found some really small complete alg sets. Small Alg Sets Here I think of one "alg" as...

    Rubik's Cube World Championship 2017 - Paris, France (13-16 July 2017)

Yeah, we've been fighting to keep it up all day. It will work better now. If it's good enough, time will tell :)

    Developing a better LL system

    It should work now!

    Developing a better LL system

It's hard to open that part up to non WCA ID users they way things are built now, sorry. I'm very interested in how the "Show" buttons fail! If you can get to the Javascript console in your browser, there are probably error messages there that I want to see! This is a Ruby on Rails project...

    Developing a better LL system

You can make public alg lists from your starred/favorite algs. These are my blue star ★ algs for example: http://birdflu.lar5.com/galaxies/2 For now you can only select one specific EP or none. But tell me more about this "phasing" thing, and what you'd need for that.

    Developing a better LL system

Oh yeah, we even talked about the combo thing! The ideal tester would build their own combo alg set and try to use it. I added you to the list of testers. To use it log in (top right), and a new "Combos" section appears top left. It could probably be clearer what to do from there, but it's...

    Developing a better LL system

Hey kids! I've been working on a universal way to make and use these combo alg sets at my LL DB site (http://birdflu.lar5.com). You can pick your own set of base algs¹, it's easy and fun to use, etc. Except that part isn't public yet. I want to polish it a bit more first, and I could really...

    [Help Thread] FMC Discussion

Hi everyone! Following NISS solutions is a pain even for those who know how, so I made a web site that does the work for you. I hope people will like it enough to use it, and hate it enough to tell me how it should be improved. :) As an example, here is a recent NISS solution from this forum...

Any "more than optimal" solvers around?

Cube Explorer is awesome, but it only gives one optimal solution. Is there any program around that will give the top 5 optimal solutions? Or all solutions at 16 moves or better?

    7. OK 8. The parameters are all explained in one place on https://github.com/larspetrus/Roofpig#roofpig. Not sure why you dislike github, but it's a regular web page with many live and editable examples. 9. Do you mean like the OLL example here http://jsfiddle.net/Lar5/tE83s/ ? Cubexps have...

Hi Michiel! I guess we're kinda competitors now, but I am interested in what you think is too ugly or complicated?

( I assume I am the "Lars" here ) 7. If you're talking about displaying some text like "Here we orient the corners" during move 24-32, perhaps with arrows pointing at them, I really want to do that. Not sure how it should work. 8. As far as I know my move notation is standard. What are you...

    Roofpig - A Canvas/Javascript web cube

Version 1.3 of Roofpig is out: https://github.com/larspetrus/Roofpig What's new is a "startsolved" feature (to make pretty patterns etc) and much better error messaging. Also upgraded to the latest three.js and jQuery. If you or a friend has a web site with old java cubes, it's easy to replace...

Where are some of the strangest places you have solved a cube?

6008 meters up on a Bolivian volcano. Not my best solve, but 49% oxygen level and frozen fingers is a partial excuse.

I may not be 100% unbiased, but I think a 3D cube view using RoofPig would be a lot easier to visualize. It should also be very easy to set up, at least with help from the RoofPig author.

    Roofpig - A Canvas/Javascript web cube

It's not part of the official features, but rotation works pretty well, use keys ASDZXC. Actual moves are on JKL, and are not good. I'll do something useful with that stuff some day.
