"The X-Cube" Kickstarter Project - $43,000+ so far

X-Cube Anyone has seen this? http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/danec/the-x-cube Pretty cool, so I thought I would share... Seems it is going to happen.

Martín Telésforo "4.41 single" DNF - Perry Open, Mexico

qqwref does not imply that it is impossible to find short solutions by accident. He simply tries to show that the scramble does not have a short solution to a J-perm which is supposed to be the used PLL (following an OLL skip).

    Waffle's Roux Tutorial

I am not sure about the exact count but I use one look OLL and one look PLL (does not mean I am fast with them). For Roux I use 2 look CMLL.

    Waffle's Roux Tutorial

Just a small thank you note. Some weeks ago, I used Roux for the first time at a comp and got a single best of 22.11 and an average of 23.70. I am about 20s with Fridrich so I am satisfied with these times. A big thanks to the Roux community :tu

    Non-Cubers say the darndest things!

    1. I mostly mentioned it because of the theoritical possibility of it. 2. Well, I beg to differ. Maybe you don't like the Gordian Knot story either? 3. I agree but I still think the mindset of non-cubers "I will scramble the cube so hard that you won't be able to solve it" is wrong. I like...

Do you have bad solving days? How do you deal with bad times?

Not to the same extend but once, I had 3 16.xx solves in a row (I was averaging around 20 at that time). Never got a single 16 in competition so it was really awesome.

Cube for a blind person: what is the best way to make one?

I also wish a better cube will be available for blind people. I tried a lot of things but none of them worked out nicely (cubesmith said they could not make such kind of tiles, cube4you blind cube is useless as each face has the same pattern, ...). I ended up making the cube myself with some...

How many times have you solved the cube?

Just out of curiosity how many cubes do you think someone like Erik Akkersdijk or Yu Nakajima have solved ? Erik has been about 20s or less for almost 6 years, he uses now less than half the 20s taken as an example by somerandomkidmike and he has been doing pretty good in one-hand, feet, blind...

    "NEW" Race to Sub-30!

    Round 87: 29.97 Wow... that was close... Messed up twice badly (also the first solve my blocks went really smoothly but I messed up the end) 12: 00:28.22 x 11: 00:29.06 x 10: 00:25.16 x 9: 00:26.20 x 8: 00:24.05 x 7: 00:38.62 x 6: 00:33.82 x 5: 00:26.49 x 4: 00:31.79 x 3: 00:42.96 x...

    2012 New Year's Resolutions

Personally, I would like to get sub 30 with Roux (already pretty close now), with Waterman (not too far) and with columns first (not too close). If I manage it I may have a look at ZZ and L2L4... One day I may even sub-30 with 10 different methods (hoping to get there before Kirjava gets sub-10...

    Your 3x3x3 Speedsolving Method History

Am I the only one to have noticed that Waffle is mentioning a secret method ? Or maybe the only one curious about it ?

    [Unofficial] 27.67 Second Solve (3x3)

Hi, I am not good at reconstruction, but I am looking at times you used for the different steps: 2s cross 17s F2L pairs 5s OLL 3s PLL You may want to go slower during your F2L pairs and try to get a better look ahead. A typical example where your look ahead is not so good is between...

    "NEW" Race to Sub-30!

    Round 86: 29.57 12: 00:27.25 x 11: 00:32.45 x 10: 00:30.23 x 9: 00:27.87 x 8: 00:33.91 x 7: 00:27.10 x 6: 00:25.21 x 5: 00:30.27 x 4: 00:28.00 x 3: 00:28.26 x 2: 00:37.71 x 1: 00:30.33 x I did it ! My first average here with Roux (switching from Fridrich). I had a really good...

[WCA Regulations 2012] Remove +2 penalty for misaligned sides

For me, the reasons to keep the +2s are: - consistency with what has been done (difficult/impossible to change all the times to now, unfair to compete against averages set with "milder" rules) - historical reason: the community being a bit indulgent towards competitors to compensate for the...

[WCA Regulations 2012] Remove +2 penalty for misaligned sides

No, it is not an arbitrary choice. And no, this was not our only justification. The first justification was made by Stefan earlier in this post and was about how difficult it would be to judge a one-turn mistake earlier in the solve. You, who always complain how hard it is to get enough judges...

[WCA Regulations 2012] Remove +2 penalty for misaligned sides

Come on, Dene, at one point you say only the final state of the cube matters and now you are trying to say being off 1 turn at the final state or being completely off because one turn was missed earlier in the solve should be considered the same ? And it is clear that the solve is off by 1 turn...

    Triplex

Sorry to go back to the triplex, but how many moves do you average on it ? If someones did not care about time, how many moves do you think he/she would need to solve it. Can we get a FMC version of the triplex :) ?
