[Member Intro] Cubing somewhat since the 80s

Competitions are all ages and there are no official WCA age group rankings; the senior rankings are unofficial (and opt-in, for privacy reasons). Some regions have a fairly large contingent of older competitors, it depends on where you are. In a lot of cases you still run the risk of being...

Ah, yes, the old wrist-burner original hardware! Good read, good to meet you, and you're in good company here. There is an increasingly active niche group of cubers our age, and even unofficial age grouped rankings tracked: https://wca-seniors.org/Senior_Rankings.html...

I'm fully in favor of a little more forum infrastructure for the senior niche. Shen's comp round-ups are a fantastic thing for the senior cubing community, he puts a lot of time into them, and there are competitors here that are not on the Facebook group. It has fully earned a spot of its own...

Not likely for long IMO, because it'll shake the Kinch ranks and because competitors. :D Shen will learn it in a week and start setting records, then Choi Goho will drop some ridiculous time on everyone.

@shentabla Much appreciation for all the effort you put into these reports.

    J perm's at 1.9M subs?!?!?

They mostly care about the engagement, if people are still watching, sharing, and commenting. Also: lack of new videos doesn't negate the value of the existing ones. I'm trying to get better at 4x4, guess where I turned?

It's unofficially official: Frank *is* the 90+ Kinch category

The world's oldest speed cuber ever

That 2x2 average should make him the first 90+ competitor with Kinch points (for known seniors in the Senior Rankings DB)

I've had a new site about 95% done for over 6 months with some polish for the Senior Kinch Ranks, support for light/dark themes, and senior profile pages that give a nice competitor overview. I carved out a hole in the schedule to dust it off and get about 4% more done, which is good enough to...

I also saw that Gary Miller will be entering the 80+ category at his next comp! It's inspiring to see all the senior accomplishments, thanks as always Shen.

After a fair bit of excavation and new wiring the senior profile page is finally taking shape and not just a mock-up. I'm liking the mobile friendliness of this latest layout experiment.

This may require a thread of it's own soon, for discussion. It occurred to me that not using average where available for 4bld/5bld is also against the spirit of kinch ranks in general and I now realize that's because kinch ranks were established in 2015 and the WCA didn't recognize Mo3 for...

The WCA doesn't even track mean for multi, there's no such thing, so single is the only option anyway.

You're right, I completely missed that 4-bld and 5-bld use singles and not best score of sing/avg, I'll have to fix that. As for exceptions for big cubes, I'm torn. On one hand, the easiest thing to do is just follow what the "official" kinch ranks does. No exceptions in the code to...

I will expand the FAQ section to cover this but event scores use average for all events except blindfold and fmc. Those events use whichever result gives you a higher score. In this specific case it's entirely arbitrary because you own both single and avg WR60 for 3-4-5 blind, whichever is...
