[Official] 16.01 3x3 OH Average - Tiffany Chien (Female WR)

Thanks :) The sunniness makes it seem like I'm trying to be really cheezy. Would go well with some dramatic slo-mo.

    (19.50), 16.82, 15.61, (14.91), 15.60 = 16.01 Done at Hayward Rubik's Rumble 2015, OH round 1. It was really sunny.

    [Unofficial] 3x3 ZZ: 9.71 average of 5, 10.56 average of 12

For 2H, basically none (aside from the 7 OCLLs, ofc). imo, the advantages of using COLL->EPLL are minimal for 2H. EPLLs aren't much faster than other PLLs, and all the OCLLs are just nicer (recognition and execution) than COLL. I am in the process of learning COLL (eventually, all cases minus...

    [Unofficial] 3x3 ZZ: 9.71 average of 5, 10.56 average of 12

I got one as a gift/prize a few months ago, and just got around to opening it and playing around with it a little. All I've done so far is make an LED light up and fade with a push button :P

    I haven't been active on speedsolving in a really long time... Here are some solves I recorded today. I use ZZ, by the way. Any tips or advice would be welcome! avg of 5: 9.71 1. 10.13 D' L U F2 D R' F' R2 D' U2 R2 U2 F2 B R2 B' R2 U2 L2 2. (8.32) L2 D R2 U' B2 F2 U2 L2 F2 L2 F2 R'...

Lubicle speedy works really really well imo. I usually use some heavier weight (4 is fine), work that in, and then add lubicle speedy. This makes my cubes (mostly 3x3s) really fast and super super smooth. Maru lube is good as "steroids", because it makes the cube fast for a short amount of time...

    The ZZ "Example Solve" Game!

For EOLine, I would suggest first orienting all edges and then completing the line. It seems to me like you are doing the opposite. For F2L, you shouldn't restrict yourself to placing a cross edge and then inserting a pair, CFOP style. It is often far less efficient than more unrestricted...

    The ZZ "Example Solve" Game!

    Not what I did when I tried a speedsolve (12.27, 66 moves) but still very straightforward. 2. D2 B' D2 B2 F R2 D2 F2 U2 B' F' D' F D R2 U R D2 B' D' B2 x2 F’ U’ R2 B’ R U L2 D’ // EOLine (8) U L2 // left-back square (2) – well that was convenient U’ R2 U2 R U2 R U R2 // right-front...

    I would do L' U2 L2 U L2' U L (7). Please don't :)

    The ZZ "Example Solve" Game!

Whoa really nice beginning. I totally wouldn't have seen to set up the line edges like that. And this is why I should be y-axis neutral... 2 bad edges vs 6.

    The ZZ "Example Solve" Game!

Oh interesting! I didn't notice. If I did that, the next pair could still be very easy, but maybe not as nice to execute: U L' U L U R U R U R' U' R (12). ends up one move less for the entire right side :) Definitely should learn that. I've heard "niklas" a lot but never bothered to figure out...

    The ZZ "Example Solve" Game!

    2nd try at normal speedsolve: L2 B2 U' B2 U2 B2 R2 F2 D F2 R2 F' D B L2 F D L2 R U2 R' x2 B’ R D’ R’ F L D’ // EOLine (7) - line edges set up nicely opposite each other U L’ U’ L U’ L2 // back-left square (6) - easy blockbuilding U L’ U’ L R U’ R’ // back-right square (7) - also easy block...

    The One-Answer Question Thread [closed]

Maybe just dealing with some of the awkward moves (practice :P) is faster than rotating. Also, may I ask why you solve things in that order?

    The One-Answer Question Thread [closed]

ikr A good question. I'm pretty sure my EOLine is far less fluid than it could be. Depending on the scramble, I probably end up with only 1-2 rotations (semi-blind guess) because I tend to do single F's and L's without rotating. Wide moves are a good way to combine moves and rotations. I...

    The One-Answer Question Thread [closed]

Mostly, Holding the cube in a way that minimizes awkward moves helps. For example, doing the EOLine a y away from your orientation to minimize weird F and B moves. But really, just practice.

Yup! Just not for 4x4. I don't do it though so I'm not sure how/why it's done.

[Help Thread] ZZ and ZB Discussion

    1. I think you should keep trying since you enjoy it. You've only been using it for a week, after all, and seem relatively close to your CFOP times. 2. For 4x4, I use hoya because methods like hoya and yau are just so much faster than reduction. In addition, ZZ is a very inspection-dependent...

    [Unofficial] 9.12 single with ZZ

Nice single! Interesting way to do the (first part of the) right block. What do you average with ZZ?

Practice. At your speed, just doing a lot of solves is the best way to get faster.
