forgive my ignorance whats the difference between these types... is it structural difference or material?

Ive been playing my rubiks 5x5x5 for almost half a year...and its starting to get too loose and pops are occuring all the time...does anyone kno how to make a good 5x5x5 rubiks speedcube or do i just order a core from cubesmith and switch the pieces?
