Hi!
Since the dino cube has neither facecenters nor 3-color corners - there are 2 possible solutions to the puzzle. 2 opposite faces can "change" by performing 4 piece swaps, involving 8 of the total 12 pieces. But i do not know of a short way to go from one solved state to the other. Can...
Hi all.
The gelatinbrain website is down. Does anyone else here have a link to downloadable version? Or you can email it to me : per.kristen.fredlund(at)gmail.com
Nothing here is available. sigh!!

Hi!
I challenge anyone to come up with a shortest possible way (please provide sequence or description) to flip all the 12 middle edges of the curvy copter. So far i am down to 72 turns but still improving. It is quite fun but aggrevating also ... ;)

Does anyone have the source code for this solver? Or even better a description of each of the steps involved. I have been getting queries about it, as i wrote an online PHP implementation many years back. I no longer have access to any of the code, Besides HTML of course ... **sigh**
Any input...
The higher order cubes and even the mosaic cube has parity. So is this always the case for "higher order" puzzles. Proof or counterexample anyone???

Hi!
I'm having issues with the gelatinbrain online applets. I cannot make them work on my windows 7 home premium laptop. They seem to start loading but end up empty on the page. Same problem with downloadable version. Not working. So annoying. Any clues???
Randelshofer applets are working...
I recently bought a 3x3x3 cube from a toy store. Not the thing i would normally do. But a few things stood out.
It claimed world class turning capability. It had a hole for inserting silicone spray nozzle on the white center. BOY color scheme. Dark green stickers. Cylinder plastic box...
Show that every even permutation on a nxnxn cube can be obtained by a series of commutators. If 2 consecutive comms is a single comm (somehow) then every even permutation is also a direct commutator. No restriction on number of layers used here ...

Find a way to twist (rotate) 2 corners with no side effect using only 2 faces of the cube. This is not too hard by easy modification of a well known alg.
Now do it as a direct commutator using only 2 faces!!

Some here may be familiar with the concept of super-supercubing. Normal supercubing involves positioning (or orienting) the center cubies (typically a picture cube).
Super-supercubing extends this concept to also involving inner shells on a larger cube. A 4x4x4 cube will also have a 2x2x2 inner...
I haven't contributed any patterns in a while, so here are a few quite easy but nice ones.
1. Orthogonal bars.
2. Pattern 2. (Suggest name please..)
3. Pattern 3. (Name please!)

(The last 2 patterns can be extended to bar equivalents, but the sequences are rather long.)
Hey all!
I just wonder what method you guys use for helicopter cube solving. I just got mine today, and i do corners first solving quite easily - though not fast yet.
I have also been pondering about various patterns possible on this puzzle. One obvious one is the "2 spot pattern"...
Hi :-)
Time for a quite simple but still challenging pattern task. Set up the 5x5x5 pattern depicted below in as few moves as possible. Block turn metric is honoured. All spots are of the opposite face-colour. Submitted solution may be a symmetric equivalent... Note how all spots gravitate...
Can you (or is it not possible) to make a corner or edge 3-cycle on the (3x3x3) cube with solely halfturns?? That means only <U2,D2,F2,B2,R2, L2> turns are allowed.

Hi :-)
On a 3x3x3 cube what is the shortest sequence to achieve 6 colours on each of the faces of the cube?
Variation: repeat this challenge for 4x4x4, 5x5x5, 6x6x6 etc.
Which is the size with shortest solution??

PS! I do NOT know the solutions - but i know that 8 turns will suffice...
Hi, I have previoulsy shown that every even position on 3x3x3 is reachable by a series of commutators.
Now i'm looking for a proof or disproof of the following:
Every even position of the 3x3x3 cube is reachable by a SINGLE (long) commutator. Good luck!! ;)

Hi. Chris inspired me to come up with this variety of forced turn fewest moves challenge. Use this weeks challenge at http://fmc.mustcube.net and find a solution where exactly every second turn is a F turn. Noe tricks that i know will give a trivial solution based on a norm,al solution.
By the...
Hi :-)
I challenge everyone to come up with a (useful) commutator involving only exactly 2 faces (or layers) of the cube. The good ones i know use 3 faces or more:rolleyes:

Correction:
I actally know this one usng 2 layers: m D2 m' D2, in commmutator notation [m,D2]
Hi im not into blind solving myself. I woner if anyone has considered this alternative multi blind solving format.
Normally one memorises a predefined number of cubes and then go about soving them blindfold after inspection/memorising ALL the cubes.
What i thought about was the following. Do...
Hi :-)
Anyone else has the same problem geting into the twistypuzzles forum. I only get access denied. A while before that i only got page not found. Hope the site will be back soon, because i was going to loko up something there:rolleyes:
