    New 2x2 method proposal

The problem with the method proposed is that the number of moves that it saves, to create the pseudo-face, is only a fraction of a move fewer than what is already required in full EG. Thus, you need to learn 1000+ algorithms instead of 126, to save maybe 0.5 moves. While it might actually save...

Yiheng Wang is the 2025 world champion!

How Xuanyi can turn so fast with such tiny hands is insane. I was 6 when I started cubing and the cube was HUGE in my hands. Imagine when his hands get to the same size as Yiheng.... The little Chinese kids cannot do 4x4 or 5x5 because the cube is just too big.

Could it be possible for most Cubers to have a high IQ?

If you can tell when the government, a bank, the media or a pharma company is lying to you, then you have a high IQ. If not, then low IQ. If you think that we live in a benevolent world, where the above four entities have your best interests in mind, then you have a low IQ.

This is probably stupid but cubing methods form a category

More simply & intuitively, different methods can easily be categorized by their general approach to solving the cube. CFOP & ZZ & Petrus & ZBRoux generally solve the first two layers which are held at the bottom and the last layer is the last step. Roux only slightly deviates from this by...

    Fastest 4x4 solver Robot

Crush = beats by faster time 3x3 Robot = 0.2 seconds vs. Human 2.5 seconds 4x4 Robot 30-50 seconds vs. Human 17 seconds

    Fastest 4x4 solver Robot

Weird that the 3x3 robot crushes a human but a human (presently) crushes a 4x4 robot.

    Older cubers discussions

I'm 50 and got a 12.56 Ao5 (corners first) a few days ago. Still haven't been to a comp but based on the 50+ rankings looks like I should try to!

How can I actually sustain getting good times?

Doesn't listening to music just distract your brain and worsen your solves? Sure does for me.

    3-Color Cube Method, a method from 1980

I noticed that ZBRoux is not on the 3x3 method timeline, or is it under a different name?

[Help Thread] How are people just faster? - pTr

For the benefit of the OP, you should share exactly which exercises you used, to improve lookahead. There are many, and some work a lot better than others. Like for example are did you practice the random scrambling while tracing pieces flying by, or did you memorize the effect of every F2L...

[Help Thread] How are people just faster? - pTr

You can test your TPS too, by taking a reconstructed 4.00 - 4.50 second solve by Tymon or Yiheng and trying to fingertrick the entire solve yourself. You will of course benefit from zero lookahead delays. Even so, most fairly good cubers will not manage to finger trick the solution in less...

    Weilong v10 or ferrocore?

Ferrocore is the best cube in existence in my opinion.

Long term timeline for 1-look CFOP / ZB to overtake 3-style as the mainstream 3BLD method

I suppose there is a middle ground, though it is hard for us to even imagine. There seems to be no limit to what the human brain is capable of, and I suppose it is possible, with eyes closed, to begin the CFOP solve, (EYES CLOSED) and still track all the pieces as they move around. In that...

What do you think is the absolute human limit of 3BLD?

With long training it is possible to see with your eyes closed and through objects. In fact this is now being taught to school kids in some countries like Russia, and a great majority of the kids are able to do it. If so then you would be able to inspect the entire cube BEFORE YOU EVEN TOOK...

What do you think is the absolute human limit of 3BLD?

Considering how close Yiheng is to one looking an entire F2L solve, if you imagine countless Chinese prodigies trained from birth, eventually one of them will be able to 1-look an entire ZB solve and memorize the cube in 2 seconds or less, with a 3.5 second solve, so 5.5 is certainly possible...

Tymon has not got an official sub 4 single since July 2024

Well if Tymon inserts the last slot with ZBLS then doesn't he have a 1 in 493 chance of a ZBLL skip, i.e., LL skip? Seems that ultimately would produce faster singles than doing OLL and getting a PLL skip. If you get 15 3x3 solves per competition then it seems about 32 competitions would give...

Tymon has not got an official sub 4 single since July 2024

Maybe it's because he now uses ZB and so the classic OLL->PLL skip that produced the sub-4 singles doesn't happen.

What is the Best Unofficial Event? Should It Be In the Wca? Why?

The best unofficial event is 3x3 Ao25, like Tymon says. The rules need to change so your judge scrambles your 2nd cube just after you solve the first one and gives you the new cube and you do a ton of solves right in a row.
