You solve up until the point where you want the rest of the solve to be skipped. You then note which pieces need to be oriented and which need to be swapped. Then on the original scramble you apply moves to orient and swap those pieces. Now, when you complete F2L, F2B, or whatever, those pieces will be solved.

Right now it's just a concept. I'm looking into applying it to a method.

ok thank you!

isn't it just like doing the same thing but swapping the order of the steps?

It is. Just like in time traveling. Instead of people dealing with a sudden problem in the future, it can be fixed right now. But I was only showing it as an interesting concept. One that I had never seen anyone do before. The explanation may be simple now, but it wasn't that easy to figure out and make it work to cause the skips. There was no speedsolving goal when I posted - it was just for fun.

Although, it is possible to apply it to a speedsolving method. This is similar to insertions in FMC. Though in this case, during inspection, a solver could see what situation will occur later in the solve. They could learn how to deal with these situations at an earlier point in the solve, maybe while solving something else. This would be a way to save moves.
