I need help for a school project on speedcubing

So basically I'm doing a project for school where I need to give a persuasive argument on something, and I'm making the argument that speedcubing should be officially recognized as a sport. If anyone can offer any help with this please do.

i disagree with you but good luck

you should definitely include arguments against it tho

I watched this a while ago and it was quite interesting

Some points/topics to help you out:

• How the popularity of cubing has gradually increased, especially at covid.
• How cubing has became more competitive, especially compared to previous years.
• How cubing is really fun, and it compared to other hobbies.
• How cubing is motivational, and dedicational.
• How cubing is vast, based on what people like and hate, and showing how some cubes are way different from others.
• Show how far cubing really is from a sport, also including next steps.

Your welcome.

I’m also gonna mention that we have an official governing body, the WCA, just like other sports, like for example the NFL for American football.

Do you have any solid arguments against it that you think I should include?

I think the one that will be brought up the most is physical exertion.

Here's what I've got for that argument so far:

It gets a little difficult to convince people that speedcubing should be a sport when it comes to physical exertion, as most people imagine physical exertion to mean that you are doing something more physically demanding, such as running or throwing a ball. By this connotation, speedcubing is nowhere near being a sport. However, the literal definition of physical exertion is not extreme. Physical exertion is the use of physical energy and muscle power to do an activity or move the body. And by moving your fingers in speedcubing, you’re doing just that: using muscle power, though only a small amount, to turn the layers on cube.
