Getting sub-2 is super difficult to predict, since Yiheng could get a good F2L, like this one, into an OLL/PLL/LL skip, and he could get anywhere from low to high 1. He reached LL at around 1.1-1.2 on this one, so if he skipped LL, that could be a 1.3 single. It could also take a decade if the luck never lines up. It's just impossible to say given how quick Yiheng, Xuanyi, Yi Shen, and other Chinese solvers are getting. All they need is a pretty good F2L into some kind of skip, and we can get it this year.

Alternatively, you can save a single QTM by saying "No" to double AUF and doing: r U R' U R U' R' U R' F R F' R U' R' U' r' F R F'.

Feels like when sub 1 average was impossible for 2x2 then suddenly everyone was getting them, I wonder how much of these milestones are due to getting over the mental block, once one person has done it its probably a lot easier for others to
