Algorithm Unions: A New Approach to Method Development

I really like this "bag of tricks" concept for (LS)LL. Particularly the idea of collecting situations according to ease of recognition - that's a super-interesting avenue to my eyes. I bet there are some fairly novel or obvious patterns which could become usable sets. As regards the existing...

Potential New 3x3 Technique: Free Slotting ( CFOP extension/cousin to psuedoslotting)

Go for it, exploring these side alleys can have great results. Not my intention to be discouraging, perhaps if you reverse the order of my sentences it reads less negatively.

Potential New 3x3 Technique: Free Slotting ( CFOP extension/cousin to psuedoslotting)

In practice most of your corner options will be unattractive. I can see this being useful in tandem with techniques like pseudo-slotting (i.e. more neat 5-movers to (pseudo)solve 2 pairs).

What are the fundamentals of a good solve

Remembering to use inspection efficiently, economy of motion, few 'collisions' between your pairs (i.e. solving one pair doesn't make the subsequent pairs more difficult), predictable last layer with highly reliable cases.

    How good is "good"?

Python + BeautifulSoup4 with cron jobs perhaps? Or if you'd rather set up a public Google Sheet and use JS, maybe you could try something similar to the getBlogPosts() function at the bottom of the Apps Scripting guide here...

My audio memo technique for edges

I used to have a memo method for corners which is somewhat similar to this, I posted it ages ago but I can't find it now. Each piece has a consonant and each of the three orientations has a vowel sound. The consonants were something like: RLDBTKWS. Anyway the point was they had a fairly...

    Duplex Method

This is so COOL. I reckon Anki/SRS suits this kind of learning very well (it's not as if you have to generate new muscle memo), especially for loading a subset like ZBLL into your brain in a short span of time, which you can then optionally improve with specific algs...

Cubing Diaries - articles about cubing

I think what you said doesn't directly contradict preferring an order for f2l. Solving BL slot first means more of your f2l is gonna be in the <R, U, F> group. You're more likely to be able to solve with nicer execution/f2l tricks and without a rotation. Additionally, you reduce the number of...

How the 3.47 WR changes cubing

I think if you've ever been fast enough to contest for the single, you want the average. I don't think it changes anything, if you really wanna be the best.

    How to practice

Yeah, I think it'll take a sea change in the younger generation to revitalise forums for all of us. I'm about halfway through Inadequate Equilibria. I'm not an economist or an AI researcher but I think the tl;dr is: markets in which every actor has collectively perfect information, but...

    How to practice

Yeah, it's a real shame to me that 'churn' is built so inseparably into Reddit, it's a black hole for content, at least from an exploration pov... People do need to go back to forums (including myself)! I've been reading something called 'Inadequate Equilibria' that's kinda related. I don't...

    How to practice

7 years... Wow! It's really heartening for me to see that people still put a 'Like' on this post every now and then, despite so many cubers predominantly using Reddit/YT/Discord nowadays. Currently I only do a few solves here and there for maintenance. Were I to start practicing properly...

Flipped Last Edge - An LSLL subset

https://sites.google.com/site/babbyandhunny/3x3x3/ols-fe This poor ole' site is need of some maintenance, pictures are broken, anyway I generated a bunch of algs for this set already, maybe you'd be interested in some of them! Never ended up learning more than the really easy cases, but it...
