I learned how to solve the Clock around 1990 and the 3x3x3 around 1995, but in both cases I quickly stopped. I relearned how to solve in 2011 and my first comp was (not surprisingly, given my WCAID) in 2014

He loved his experience there. He was very well treated since he was playing the Interzonal Chess Tournament . Everything went great, except for his results. He did draw against Tal, but apart from that it wasn't the tournament of his life

In the Fide case, this is not a dress code for all competitions, but specific to World Rapid and Blitz Championship (other comps may have different dress codes) I mostly agree, but I'm not the one searching for sponsorship (for whom the dress code might be an important part of the deal)
