I don't know about this particular record being broken, but I fully expect 3 or more 2-second solves this year. Xuanyi and Yiheng are clearly on the very verge of getting there
Back when I learned OLL I think I learned 48 algs in 4 days, although it took a much longer time to become faster with 1 look OLL than 2 look. I've heard of people learning full OLL in a day even. I know ZBLL is a much larger alg set (9x larger, so probably 50x harder to learn and maintain than...
I would like an algorithm trainer, for learning PLL, OLL, and maybe even ZB. And also the ability to just play around with the cube outside of a solve. Was it very difficult to create this by the way? I am currently learning software development and I'm daunted by these types of projects, seems...
This made me curious. When Tymon last got an ER single 2 years ago, Xuanyi Geng had 0 3-second solves. Now Xuanyi has 62 of them... And of course a 3-second average
Got my first 3 second solve, never thought I'd ever get one but lady luck has smiled on me. Done on virtual cube, 3.75 on this scramble: U B2 U2 R2 F2 U2 L2 B' D2 R2 U2 F2 L U F R' U2 R' D R' F2. Here's a replay of the solve. Wish I would have put in the effort to look to first and second pair...
Just my general assumption that improvement slows down as you get older, even for 12 year olds. And someone that's 2/3 his age is already improving at a faster rate. I'd be happy if Yiheng and Xuanyi have a rivalry that lasts for years though, that would be great to watch.
Wow, I never thought Yiheng's 3.90 would get beaten so quickly but here we are... Cubing is wild these days man, compared to when I started 10 years back
Edit: Just realized this kid wasn't born yet when I started... that truly is amazing lol
I made a guide to learning full OLL a few years ago:
I tried to structure it in such a way that it would be as easy as possible to progress through learning the algorithms, so it might be helpful to you.
