    [Help Thread] Big Cubes Discussion

i do this thing where i take out one edge and do some combination of flip (at most 1) and cycle to solve one edge immediately (if there exists an edge whose parts lie in only 3 of the 4 unsolved edges, otherwise do a little more) and then do regular flipping and cycling things after i can take...

What event will WCA remove next?

imo anyone who gets into 7x7 at this time and practices enough to become sub 2:40 will probably disagree, though i know a handful of slower people who would too

Changes to the WCA event list.

they're not even that hard to scramble, they just take more time. i just tried scrambling a 7x7 right now (generated from cstimer btw), it took me 38 seconds, and it's pretty sufficiently scrambled. additionally i would argue it's more hectic to scramble rounds for smaller events such as 2x2 and...

Changes to the WCA event list.

yes but they don't need to be scrambled accurately so there will basically be no issues with misscrambles

What event will WCA remove next?

imo there's no reason to remove 6x6, 7x7, or fmc organizationally they seem quite nonproblematic; 6x6 and 7x7 are especially non-prone to incidents, since misscrambles have almost no effect and are allowed. fmc i also haven't heard anything problematic much, most of the time people write down...

What event will WCA remove next?

also please note that in mega, 5x5, 6x6, and 7x7, misscrambles are allowed at the discretion of a delegate, and extra scrambles can be applied on unsolved cubes. this is because having a good first few moves has a comparatively low bearing on the variance of luck available and length of the rest...

Changes to the WCA event list.

note that regulations 4g1a and 4a1 apply to mega, 5x5, 6x6, 7x7 also lowkey getting worried from some 7x7 and 5bld hate here so i am putting it out again that i know for a fact that 7x7 is not like "just a longer version of 5x5 and 6x6," there are quite significant differences in center...

Changes to the WCA event list.

interesting decision, i wasn't expecting this given how much support i've seen for clock lately i guess i've heard some of the things mentioned in the statement, especially the thing with incidents, which to me makes it seem at least somewhat reasonable. i also think a lot of people will...

    6x6 Sub-3, 7x7 Sub-5 advice.

generally you can just watch kevin hays tuesday tips and do a ton of solves. actually executing generated scrambles helped a lot for me in turning accuracy i think. most important thing to remember is to not quit because with big cubes theres basically a limit to how fast you can improve (even...

[Help Thread] why am i bad at 6x6

I don't specialize in 6x6 (currently 33/55/1:36/2:11) but I guess I'll try to help. At that speed, you can probably improve a significant amount just by doing more solves and simply just trying to turn faster. Knowing how to use freeslice is a must. Both Redux and Yau are okay methods to use...

Favorite and least favorite WCA event? What WCA Event do you do the most? What WCA Event do you do the least?

old habits die hard favorite: 7x7 least favorite: skewb, i did get sub 9 recently after learning sarah's intermediate but i'm only doing this because i don't want to see 5 digit rankings on my profile most practiced: 7x7 (probably ~300 hours, wr169/149) least practiced: 3bld to enjoy 7x7 just...
