As my name suggests I'm not the fastest solver. I'm new to cubing but I'm addicted. I'm looking to learn new methods and improve my times as well as learn more about cubing in general. I currently can only solve 3x3s and 2x2s but I should be getting my Eastsheen 4x4 in the mail any day now so I look forward to learning to solve it as well.

Right now I only know the method that came with the cube. (Rubik's Brand 3x3). I get around one minute. :fp Do you have any advice on what I should method I should learn next?

well, you could use
CFOP
MGLS
Petrus
Roux
ZZ
ZZ-ZB
ZZ-Blah
Triangular Francisco
Salvia
Seatbelt
Dan Brown
FreeOP
nice list there for you, there are actually way more
as for 2x2
Ortega
Guimond
EG
CLL
SS
LBL
OFOTA

A minute with that method's actually pretty good.

You have a few choices to choose from for continuing methods, here are the more popular ones:

[wiki]Fridrich[/wiki]/[wiki]CFOP[/wiki] - The most popular, and proven to be fast. Very similar to the [wiki]LBL[/wiki] (Layer By Layer) method you're using now.

[wiki]Roux[/wiki] - Uses blockbuilding and more M-slice moves.

[wiki]ZZ[/wiki] - Harder to master, but very fast potential.

[wiki]Petrus[/wiki] - Also uses some blockbuilding.

EDIT: Of course there are more methods out there; these are just the more popular ones.

Welcome! There are plenty of people here who can help you out...you're sure to learn a lot, or at least have a good time. :D

am statue.
I have no idea why, but that phrase always makes me laugh.
:p

Slowpoke: as for what method you should learn next, you could really get sub40 and even better with the method that you have now.
However, if you want to prepare for the future and progress better then, then Chapuunka's post should be quite helpful. Honestly, try each method for a while, and when you decide one of them is pretty cool, stick with it. Although not recommended, you could always switch later on.

Will do! :)

Could have sworn the username "Slowpoke" was taken. I think there is a user with a similar name.

Welcome! Don't worry about your time so much. I started cubing just a few months ago and I still have about a minute average.

Personally, I learned the Rubik's method in the booklet like yourself and then I learned Petrus from a YouTube video. I then learned the 2-look OLL/PLL. I'm working on the whole Fridrich Method now.
