Where is the human decency in the cubing community today?

I think that it is very rude to just say that western society loves to "extrapolate a lot just for their kicks and entertainment".

Now, my understanding of the word "extrapolate" is that it has a similar meaning to "prejudice" or "stereotypes" (in this context, anyway).

So, I personally consider you saying (once again, my understanding) that means that you think western society is stereotypical of eastern society and likes making fun of those stereotypes is a very preconceived notion. AKA - Extrapolated / stereotypical from history. A couple hundred years ago, someone can and probably would agree, but in my experience I consider the western world to, mostly, be close to the opposite of that.

Now on the original topic of the thread, yeah no idk why you think that the cubing community is very nice, maybe you have a "play the victim" personality and think that any rudeness directed towards you (such as Ih8bld's remarks about your character) applies to the entire community you are involved in. I think that you may just be looking for something to blame for any hate directed to you for YOUR actions.

I think the cubing community is a very nice community to be apart of, especially in comparison to other communities or "fandoms".

If I seem rude, then I seem rude. I can deal with that.

your right, the community, in many ways ugh, is actually very friendly with others, so really, why focus on the bad side?

That's not what extrapolate means. Extrapolate means to draw new conclusions from prior information. For example, if you're presented with a set of numbers:

1, 2, 3, 4, 5

And you're asked to determine the next 2 values, by using the information you already have, you're extrapolating the new two values.

ehh so similar imo but not as close as i thought. no worries, thanks for clarifying

i've been meaning to say this but have hesitated due to it coming off as rather rude, but, are you sure that the average speedcuber would find any of your cubing contributions interesting ?
  • Contrary to popular belief, cubing ≠ speedcubing.
  • I don't think I mentioned anywhere at any time that my "cubing contributions" are speedcubing contributions. (I had an OLL times table and COLL times table threads when I first joined, but that's it AFAIK.) I think it's pretty clear that "number of K4OLL formulas", etc., are not something that speedcubers need to know.
  • And in the post you quoted, I wasn't mentioning things that I already have contributed. (Those are all online already.) I was speaking of things that I have not yet contributed. (Not sure why I had to explain that just now. Clearly you weren't reading what I was wrote correctly at the time you replied.)
i fully understand the sentiment & absolutely know of people who truly just dont care because they dont care, but (im only saying this just for context) theres a reason why ben whitmore for example has called your 4x4 parity page on the wiki & stuff "autism" meanwhile he has generated 4x4 parity algs that are actually usable for speedsolving & are compatible with existing strategies (of which were learned by sebastian weyer, who would then on win the most recent world championship for 4x4 with them)
Are you aware of this (now main stream "big cube oll pairity") alg? That's mine of which I found by hand in 2010. The YouTube uploader eventually updated the video description including a link to my main "worthless" parity alg theory thread. (FYI)

And if Ben said that about my page, I'm surprised, but I also . . . you had no business telling me without his permission (especially in public).

i absolutely dont think you should stop sharing stuff
Sorry, but you do not have the power to tell me what I should or should not do.

Dear readers, this is a perfect example of why this thread was started.

This poster:
  • Slandered what I wrote (and "attacked" accordingly, put in a lot of effort to bring me down)
  • Spread (claimed) gossip about me, publicly
  • Then tried to look genuine (by claiming interest in the very thing attacked)
  • Attempted to tell me what I should or should not do with my time.
  • Ended the post with a distraction from the main content (to deescalate something he escalated)

Contrary to popular belief, cubing ≠ speedcubing. I don't think I mentioned anywhere at any time that my "cubing contributions" are speedcubing contributions...
ok but this is the speedsolving.com website & so based off of that & given that pretty much all people talk about in this site these days is WCA related stuffs & methods for those puzzles (i also remember when the site had no kids or whatever the heck, now they're everywhere 🤷‍♂️ obv not a bad thing just really different) i thought it will become more of a speedsolving website as time goes on as i've said, thats quite literally why i mentioned the discord server, pretty much everyone i've seen around who is interested in only puzzle theory is in it (from what i could see at least) which is pretty surprising, though admittedly people still discuss stuff in other WCA related servers (& probably email newsletters,,,) but i'm very sure that it will grow/become very tight-knit

I think it's pretty clear that "number of K4OLL formulas", etc., are not something that speedcubers need to know.
okay but i still know people that still think your k4 stuffs still have merit in speedsolving thats why i mentioned them, seems like a fun fact they would probably share around as well, like take a look at this algorithm sheet

oh yes, unfortunately i only saw it before you made your comment but also the description still says "may have" & not "has" as it seems he never saw it, & also never contacted you in the first place to confirm that it is when he really could've
also if it were mainstream, every top solver would be using it which they arent (the 3Rw U2 alg is still the most popular among them)

I wasn't mentioning things that I already have contributed. (Those are all online already.) I was speaking of things that I have not yet contributed. (Not sure why I had to explain that just now. Clearly you weren't reading what I was wrote correctly at the time you replied.)
okay, completely my fault for assuming nothing will be speedsolving related/useful to the average member of this site, but if any of them are you should've mentioned that you just might open up to doing something with at least those based off of what i've said no ?

you had no business telling me without his permission (especially in public).
the server he said these things in is a public discord server btw (you can search it up on disboard, a public server database, & it is the very first thing in every single description of dphdmn's youtube videos)
but also okay i should mention that he definitely did not remark it in a derogatory way, but more so of a "lol cool but useless" way, autism is a pretty vague word (a spectrum) after all mb, if it was more of the former he would certainly describe it with different words to say the least

Sorry, but you do not have the power to tell me what I should or should not do.
uh i thought i was saying the equivalent of "dont change anything", well in terms of just sharing which i didnt express clearly admittedly, but as i've said thats also just because of my impression that i've mentioned in the start of this post, literally if someone could just tell me "this is not just a speedsolving site, its all things twisty puzzling" then i will gladly take back everything i've said about how your contributions are not the most useful of things to most people in this site

& about "making a remaster", i actually said it because i thought you already sort of did that but checking again now you did not, completely my bad

but also yes, i am indeed telling you to do something which is to merely reconsider where you share stuff, & that's because...
This poster put in a lot of effort to bring me down
my whole message was just "keep sharing however you want, but please do so in the right spaces", really sorry if it came across as something else
it seems dumb to consider but thats straight up what the internet has been promoting more these days via niche upon niche upon niche, & im really helping you by making you take note of this phenomenon

consider why the discord server i have mentioned was made instead of just them continuing to discuss everything in an already existing space, like look at this crazy ruleset they have, but believe it or not its pretty reasonable

Dear readers, this is a perfect example of why this thread was started.
uh clearly you have not seen everything that user ih8bld has stated throughout this thread

tried to look genuine (by claiming interest in the very thing attacked)
if i had no interest how else could i have come up with my 1-flip 😐 do you wanna see the whole convo for proof or whatever, i have also never said the rest of your work has no place anywhere as discussed

Ended the post with a distraction from the main content
again if you dont think that was related then my bad for assuming it had to do with speedsolving once again, when you mentioned "clever solutions that have been presented/offered many times over" genuinely the only thing i could think of is using 4-pad exclusively for WCA competitions
