The Orcuber's Hunt For The Best 3x3 Method

Do you think this is a good idea? Or are the methods out there good enough?

Hello everyone, in our day of cubing there are hundreds even thousands of methods or way to solve the Rubik's Cube. The layer by layer has always been the most famous and common way to solve the cube. After a while the CFOP method became the most popular method a layer by layer method optimized for speed. This was thought to be the best method for the longest time. However recently a new method ZB a new but similar variation on the classic layer by layer method and extension of CFOP has taken center stage. When the idea was first thought up many people beloved it would be impossible to use and learn due to its extensive alg set. However people have started to learn and perfect ZB and as of today the 3x3 average and single (Kind of Teodor did ZBLL but technically does not use ZBLS) were achieved using this method. This dethroning of the original CFOP by this new extension that was thought to be impossible got me wondering "Is there a better method". It may seem like we are at the peak and that nothing will beat ZB but this is similar thinking to what we had when CFOP was the best method.

Check the thread the L.O.T trials. its a method where you form a block on the top face just before inseting the last pair and it forces a LL skip. its a method being developped by @CrossPetrus and @jared Bukhart
I saw this and thought that there are a lot of methods trying to improve LBL method and I was wondering if there was a better way to do LBL or if we should move to another way to solve it.

I'm working on a method for the method making comp and I think it's really good
I can't talk about it until I submit it in the comp tho
Nice I'm excited to see it.
For when we make methods, do we discuss them in this thread, or in DMs?

I have ideas but I’m not that good at any of the skills listed in the first post. I do have a speedsolving wiki account and I average 10-12 seconds tho!
I was thinking once we get the team we change the name of the thread to all the people who are hunting for the best method and prolly do it in this thread

Testers: Fast cubers (Sub-10/Sub-15) to see how the method feels in high-speed solves.
i could help in this category
I average sub-7 with CFOP

I do believe that more people need to help further develop the APB method. It has a lot of potential to have a consistent sub-45 move count especially with ZB. The ergonomics for most of the solve are also very good, being mostly RU gen from BR pair to ZBLL. It’s also guaranteed to be rotationless. The main reason why CFOP was able to become the “best method” was because it was heavily developed and many people worked on creating better algorithms, F2L solutions, last layer subsets, etc. Notice how almost all of the 3x3 subsets are for a CFOP approach. Even ZBLL takes a CFOP approach, with the first two steps being cross and three F2L pairs. So i think we might have the best method already, it’s just that people aren’t committing to it enough.

I have a method created: Piece by piece ll skip method. After you solve the cross you do one alg for each pair:
Edge orientation
Edge permutation
Corner permutation
Corner orientation
After you do this the ll will always be skipped
Wdym? Do you orient every edge at a time? Then permute every edge etc?

Okay so far the team (Or people who have shown interest in working on this) include @CrossPetrus @speedsolvetheory @-Cube Kid- @Martyt7777 @Michael Wimberly @Caleb Valenzuela @Jared Burkhart.
This leads me to my next question what do we want to work on I have some ideas if you have any other ideas I would love to hear them. We could do:
Zbll optimization
APB development
CFOP Variation
New Method
(Just some ideas that were mentioned)
I think we should start with APB optimization.
