This thread is to share your memory palaces.

I will share mine to start with:
40 TIFR spots - 1 small 30 minutes attempt
100 artificial rooms - 1 big attempt
136 train stations - 1 big attempt
332 peg system - 3 attempts
64 chess squares - 1 mid attempt

So I can do 7 MBLD attempts before exhausting all my palaces. I do not use rooms for bigBLD. I assume 2 days to be a good time period to revisit palaces. So I cannot do more than 3-4 big attempts a day.

Please do share your system and architecture of memory palaces!! 😀

200 countries (1 more page not shown in picture) are now in my memory palace arsenal, I need to use them in real attempts now!

9 palaces neatly loaded on Anki for me.

7/9 palaces have 100+ rooms so they can be used for old style.

I want to compare the efficiency of each palace type by doing actual attempts of a fixed size and using all these palaces,

Compare the results over a large sample (20 attempts each palace)

I don't think alphabetic is good for countries. I'm no memory expert but I remember by regions and each country's role in each region. Most countries have at least one thing associated with them, for example Colombian coffee or Kuwait's Gulf War or Kosovo War or the Congolese Civil War.

I have tried the navigational route, it gets too confusing as we have multiple options to navigate neighbouring countries. Out of simplicity I chose alphabetical. It has been working fine for me.

I see the Geography Now YT series in alphabetical order so I am comfortable with this order, in transition from country to country.

how do memory palaces work?
Not a blindsolver, but to my knowledge it's where you place your letter pairs around a building you are very familiar with, then retrace your steps around the rooms where you placed your memo in, (e.g MK = monkey, I will imagine a monkey next to my bed, GH = ghost, I place a ghost on my bedside table)

I wanted to see how many of the active MBLDers use a 2D map for visualization of rooms / loci.

Is there any saving in brainpower or easy in memorization with 2D maps? Is it possible to commit to long term properly with this scheme?
a 2D map can be a drawing or a schematic of an area we are familiar with. It can also be a map drawing or a game layout, but there is nothing 3D or spatial about them.

I still do very small attempts(6 cubes) so I assign a new room to each cube, considering each one carefully. I will have to reconsider this for bigger attempts. Currently my rooms consist of rooms in my house, my school, etc.
Now I'm attempting 22-23 cubes, I still use similar rooms(only places I'm familiar with), but for the most part I have a theme for each 4 cubes(e.g. school). I might have to reconsider this for UKC(assuming I qualify) since there are 2 attempts
