i have decided to make a "Professional" speedcubing league. the way i want it to work: there will be 8 competitors. every week, the people will compete in 1 WCA event. whoever places first in that week will get 8 points, second will get 7 points, 3rd will get 6 points, and so on. there will be a 6 week season. after the regular season is over, the top 6 will advance to the playoffs. contestants must record there solves, and be fine with there solves being showed on my youtube channel, as a highlight real of sorts. if you want to register, here is the link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1...l9EFp3PwNwvwB1AN-BJ7Odww/viewform?usp=sf_link
if you have questions, feel free to ask them.

Why? What's the point?

This just seems like an obvious way to yoink other people's content for your YouTube channel with zero returns.
Ya know, in the form you can say you don't want your solves on their channel, also it would still not be stealing content, do you think monkey league is stealing pro cubers content by uploading the best solves gotten during the season to their channel.

the point, is that 97% of the people on this forum have almost no chance of ever being WCA world champion, or even wining a comp. Brutally honest, I know, but none the less true. therefor, i thought it would be a fun way to give some of those lesser known cubers some exposure. as for the second comment, i would be completely fine with someone else organizing and running the youtube channel. as i said in the original post, it is for highlight and entertainment purposes only. if the channel somehow grew to the point were it was making money, we could add a prize pool to the League.

I saw nothing wrong with this until you mentioned the potential of forum users. The way you phrase this sounds as though you're providing some clout for people you think don't have a shot at performing well officially. There are plenty of people who perform very well in competition here, and many, many others who are working hard towards that.

Giving some exposure to lesser-known cubers is a great idea, but prefacing it by saying that most lesser-known cubers have no shot at winning comps is a very negative mindset in my opinion. Most cubers do not win comps, no, but anyone can win a comp.

Seems like a good idea, and I don’t doubt your intentions but they have been stated rather bluntly. I know how it feels to have something come out wrong, I do it a lot, but maybe you could try and clarify what you’re trying to do and why

Their post says you gotta be fine with them being on yt so that’s conflicting information. I would give ML a pass bc of a few factors. It’s a more professional setup with head to head and commentary along with actual prize money. So there’s incentive/compensation for participation and being part of the content. Compared to just taking clips of peoples solve videos.

True. very true. still, though, i will keep my point. of the almost 50,000 people on this forum, very few people could win worlds, or even a local comp. everyone certainly has the potential to win a comp, but few will reach that potential. I know that i can win a comp, but statistically, its not likely.
this is a reason i don't think the winner of a comp should be decided by the main event only, but by an average of every event. sorry, i'm getting of track.
Can I join if I'm only good at one WCA event?
definitely.

i put that in the form because of conflicting information. i have found that it is easy to miss things on this forum, so i put that in the registration to make sure people realized what i said.
So is this like the monkey league but then not head to head? and why do you need our nationality?
I ask for nationality because i want people to represent there country. obviously, there will be more people from some places then others, but at the time of writing this, people from 4 country's have singed up.
I registered but I can’t record my solves but I willl be able in late 2024
sadly, that means you wont be able to compete this time around. however, if this is done again in 2024, i would love to see you compete, and if you want to be more involved now, you can help with organization process.

If its really needed I can record but only if it is completely nevcesary

to compete it would be necessary. you can just have a side view of the cube, as long as you can see the solve and the time afterwards.
Do I have to have a timer display, or can I just show the time on the recorder?
just show the time on the recorder. if you cant do even that, i can frame count to verify the time.
