Sup everybody. My name is Abdul-Hakeem R. im new here. I'm a 32yo male and live not far south of Houston Texas USA. I've been cubing pretty casually for a little over 2.5 years with a few breaks here and there. I'm just now starting to get a little more serious and plan on making the switch to cfop and roux very soon. My current 3x3 pb is 33.16s using beginners method modified with intuitive f2l and skipping daisy. My current mains are the 356xs and guhong v4. Can't wait to learn more to get my averages way down, shatter my pb, aswell as going to my first competition. I look forward to meeting many of you fellow cubers, and hope yall have a great day.

Welcome! It seems like you have an interest in CFOP and Roux, that's great! Most cubers don't bother venturing further than CFOP :p

Although I suggest you check out ZZ as well ;)

Oh, and please be careful with your Guhong V4. Mine as well as many peoples' Guhong V4 have broken due to its fragile plastic. Don't be too aggressive on it!

Welcome!!

I main the Guhong v4 as well!!
Noice! Thanks

Ooh great recommendation. maybe the efficiency of zz's avg move counts can help offset my slower tps . Yeah unfortunate about the centerpieces i actually saw brody's follow up video after it was already in the mail lol. I had considered putting jb weld on the bottom of the center caps (edit: centerpieces) just to make them more rigid out of paranoia before it arrived, but I took it apart immediately after first turns to take a look at the screw travel distances because the tensioning felt kinda uneven. I found that not only did the screws have different lengths to the threads but the red centerpiece was already screwed down to the point to where no thread was showing at all. I can't help but wonder if people are tightening down all the sides without looking at core to get it more controllable and having this very uneven factory tension is what causes alot of these failures. anyway after i fixed the tension it gave me some peace of mind so i don't think ill do the jb weld thing. But thanks alot for making sure i was aware of that reliability issue. sorry for the long read it was a bit to explain lol

Welcome! You’ll find plenty of resources to improve here!
Thanks! I certainly hope so

welcome. nice to see so many new cubers join the forum with great averages and broad choices of cubing methods

I remember averaging in the 30s with beginner, after quitting for some months and finding motivation I eventually learned CFOP!
Thats a real nice avg for beginners, and i dont think many ppl hang in there that long so kudos! Just memorised my first cfop alg with its fingertricks yesterday! So there's no looking back now lol. imma just bite the bullet and learn full pll and then go straight into memorizing full oll after.

jbweld is like concrete, I'd be interested to see how it works for you if you try it
I was intentionally really rough with it a while back after i evened the tensions. I'm gonna break it down soon to see if there's any cracks or stress marks and if there is I'll reinforce it but if not I'll just prolly leave it as it is if it handled that abuse lol. Either way I'll let you know how it pans out.

But i have to admit I've been rather neglecting that puzzle since my wrm2020 and rs3m2020 came in. They both have such nice handfeel compared to my other cubes :p
