Hi I`ve recently got a rubik`s cube and I worked it in after a few hours:( but I don`t know how to lube it with Jig-A-Loo. I don`t know if your supposed to put in a lot or small amounts. I see people just popping out an edge and spraying it in, but it turns into a block of glue after a while. Some people take it apart and just spray each piece. I`am stuck. I`d apreaciate your help!:D:D

You're supposed to spray it in, and work it around immediately. If you don't it'll act like glue, gluing everything up together.

i was gonna use vaseline too coz i cant find any silicone spray but i heard that vaseline destroys ur cube, is that true? if not im gonna use it haha:)

vaseline does destroy your cube

and order silicone online if you have to, and badmephisto did his experiement with DIY's right? Isnt that different than storeboughts?

I had 2 rubik's cube one with silicon and one with vaseline, the vaseline just wears out the plastic and builds up black gunk inside , the silicone just left white glaze and still keept smooth.

Always use Silicon Spray

well, silicon glues up my cube but vaseline smoothens it.I don't have any cubes that have been "destroyed".Maybe Vaseline sold here (s'pore) is better.I tested silicon and vaseline on two seperate cubes and the Vaseline one is smoother.I just don't get what you guys say that Vaseline is bad.It works 4 me though.

it does work for me too but ive only tried vaseline so dono the difference...but the thing is coz my cube is the hard type so anything will do...another thing is it does leave a black gunk after a while maybe bcos all the powder formed in the cube stick together

How often do you guys usually have to re-apply?

I didnt want to start a whole new thread but was just wondering how long yours usually lasts? Im using CRC silicon.

Too many factors determining this (i.e. amount of use, temperature, handling, amount of lube), so just do so when you notice a decrease in speed since the previous time you lubed.
You probably shouldn't ever have to apply more or even the same amount as you did the first time, though.

Edit: I've had my storebought cube since (early?) november, and I've re-lubed it once, around 2 weeks ago.
