[WR] 5.25 3x3x3 single by Collin Burns

I noticed that this solve is getting a lot more attention than anything I've seen before.
Loads of people keep coming to me and asking if I've seen it.
"No, I solve the cube as a hobby but you, a non-cuber, found out before me".

GJ Collin :)

This is happening so much oh my god.

Btw the record still isn't on the WCA site, does anyone know why?

Seriously who cares that DGCubes uploaded it. He got collins permission nor did he steal any credit from the solve.
But anyway GJ collin! I'm actually glad it wasn't broken by Felix or Matt's but someone different.

What bothers me is people uploading a second copy of it, or people showing a video of the video (like reshowing it on their phone for the camera, or recording a computer screen). There is no point to that except hoping to make money of views. It's disappointing.

DG, you should relist your video. People are taking it and reuploading it for views. You deserve those views more than reuploaders. At least you originally took the video.

Agreed. It is your video and it is good for cubing if as many people as possible see it. Maybe you could put links to a couple of sites where people can learn to cube like Bad Mephisto or Bob Burton.

What makes you say that?

With a different cube it would've been presented to the table at a different time, it would've been scrambled at a different time, placed in the box differently, revealed differently, with a different station and judge even. Colin might be in a slightly different state of mind, etc. It took a lot of specific events to get this 5.25. Not saying the cube he used is better, just that it set up the ideal circumstances

You make it sound like ...weird haha. I agree many events had to take place, although i wouldn't necessarily call them "ideal", more of just lots of time and effort decided to culminate and pay off, whether it was coincidence and what events led up to it is semantics lol.

But what if Hualong was not kill?
One could argue that it may have even been faster, but we will never know for sure.
Keep dreaming, belv in youself™, and never give up.

I don't know who to tell this to, but the statistic page hasn't been updated to include Collin's 5.25. it still says he has only one sub 6.

Any little thing that can be blown up to a controversy.

Yeah, these WR/CR/NRs are under a heavy microscope, so I was worried about that too. It's pretty clean though. Nothing really stands out. I would feel bad if he like picked up the cube right away out of excitement and got a +2 out of it.

The biggest controversy I've seen from non-cubers is the inspection thing "He actually took 15 seconds, because he looked over the cube before he solved it!" Muggles...
