I think he meant the Chinese characters for the name. All Koreans know how to write their names in Chinese Characters as well. I only know how to write Hangul though.

you must know Hyundai cars,right?Its chinese name is 现代（modern)，so i think Hyun can be translated 现.And Yu can be translated as 于（there're quite many chinese words having the same pronounciations as Yu,i just choose 于 which is a chinese surname),Da can be 大.
Overall,you can say her chinese name is 于大现(quite ugly...),maybe 于答贤 is more beautiful and like a poetic name
