MI-Squan

MI-Squan is a Square-1 speed solving method created by Gleb Nekrasov in December of 2024. The method is focused on having a low algorithm count while not having too many steps.
The Steps
- Cubeshape: Turn the puzzle back into its cubic shape
- V block: Create a V shaped block by pairing 3 corners and 2 edges on the bottom (FB+DB and DBR). This takes 5 slices at most.
- MI-CP: Insert the dfr corner and dr edge while permuting the corners of the top layer (47 algorithms), this can be done in one algorithm or by first inserting the corner and permuting the top layer corners and then inserting the edge (9 algorithms).
- L5E: Do an algorithm to solve the remaining 5 edges (16 algorithms).
Pros
- Lookahead: There are not a lot of blind spots after the V block is built.
- Ease of Learning: Learning this method lets you learn a small set of algorithms.
Cons
- Inspection - The V block may be hard to inspect and find the most efficient solution for.
Variants
OP
After finishing the V, you can do OBL and be left with PLL or Adj PLL. Alternatively you could do a L3P (last 3 pieces) algorithm to just be left with normal PLL.
