Hall-4 is a 4x4 speedsolving method invented by Daylen Hall in February of 2024. It utilizes Yau and Direct Solving techniques. It has good look ahead for most of the solve. It’s like a 4x4 version of Cross-1.
The Steps
- 1. Build two opposite centers( your top and bottom colors)
- 2. Build 3 of your cross edges like in Yau.
- 3. Finish off the 4 remaining centers and line them up with the cross. Then rotate the cube so the cross pieces are in the back leaving the F and U face free to move.
- 4. Solve the F3L pairs. This step has good look ahead and uses lots of tricks. The solve from here is also rotationless.
- 5. CLL/CDFLL-Solve the corners.
- 6. 4-Look L10W(Last 10 Wings)
Pros
- Solves pieces directly.
- Good look ahead and ergonomics throughout the solve.
- Uses techniques from well know methods like Yau and CFOP.
- Few rotations.
- Fewer moves than most methods.
Cons
- Needs a good understanding of commutators.
- F3L step can be hard for beginners.
- L10W needs lots of practice to get good at.
