The Last Layer

Last Layer, normally only the abrevation is used; LL, often with a prefix that refers to some last layer method, like OLL, PLL or a group of methods like CxLL.

The last layer is what is left to do after the first two layers are solved using a layer by layer method, most often the Fridrich method.

The last layer is newer solved in one single step, the LL method with no prefix, because there are far to many cases to learn; it is a total of 1212 positions not counting reflections. So the last layer is always solved in multiple steps. The number of steps is counted in numbers of "looks", if a method uses four looks it is a four look last layer method, shorted to 4LLL, if the method uses three looks it is a 3LLL and if it is only two looks, the normal figure for most of the speedcubing methods used, it is a 2LLL, for example OLL/PLL or CLL/ELL.
