Talk:Lauzza

From Speedsolving.com Wiki

Lauzza is presented as a ZZ-a derivative integrating the IB -1 and I-F2L structural progression of the Lau Method into a ZZ framework.

This page does not claim structural independence from ZZ-a, nor does it claim to replace it. Rather, it documents an integrative variant applying Lau’s IB -1 and systematic I-F2L methodology within a ZZ-based orientation approach.

The distinction from ZZ-LOL lies in the retention of IB-1 and I-F2L progression rather than a pure EO-first RUD-restricted solve.

If consensus is that it should be that the specific EO IB -1 to be merged in the EO Steps page and that Lauzza should be categorized strictly as a ZZ variant / ZZ-a Variant (or subvariant of ZZ) rather than a standalone method, that categorization is acceptable. The goal of this page is documentation of structural integration, not reclassification of existing methods.

So what just because you have systematic F2L doesn't mean it's a new method. You just take ZZ and mix it with you F2L method and then decided to call is the Lauzza method when in reality it's just a wolf in sheep's clothing it's just ZZ-a. Basically ZZ variants doesn't always hve to start with an EOLine but any way you want to. So I could say I start with EO and solve 3 opposite cross pieces and then I solve all of F2L into ZBLL that's basically the same thing as ZZ-a therefore it doesn't exist. This is like saying "oh I invented a new method and it's based on CFOP but instead of solving cross I solve only 3 cross pieces and then finish all F2L pairs and then only after that I insert my last cross piece going into OLL and PLL, what an innovative idea!" Except it's not at all. And this applied to your Lauzza method idea.

Corresponding to the aforementioned blanker of this page for clarification conducive and substantial to his response:

The page does not claim that Lauzza is structurally independent from ZZ-a, nor that systematic F2L alone constitutes a new solving paradigm.

The claim being made is narrower: Lauzza is a defined ZZ-a derivative integrating IB-1 and I-F2L progression from the Lau Method into a ZZ framework. To heavily emphasize the method part while not considering the nuance of such taxonomy would have been to disregard the logical composition of its intended purpose.

The objection appears to be directed at a claim of mere novelty that this page does not make. The intent is documentation of a specific structural integration developing upon another method and transferring its use to another establish one, not rebranding ZZ-a as something fundamentally different.

If the concern is that such derivatives do not meet documentation criteria, then the discussion should focus on what threshold the wiki applies for recognizing structured variants within ZZ, rather than on rhetorical analogies.

I am open to classification as a ZZ-a subvariant if that better reflects its taxonomy. The issue at hand is documentation scope, not whether ZZ remains the underlying foundation.
