Lou is a No-Flip Clock method proposed by the former clock WR holder Yunhao Lou. It simultaneously solves both front and back crosses using Simul moves similar to Four Halves but more optimized and AUF is done at the very beginning. This method solves the clock in 9 moves at most just like Sheerin.
Tutorial
The memo is similar to the one in Sheerin but with a little less calculations:
- M1 = D + (C to L) + (C to R)
- M2 = L to C
- M3 = D to C
- M4 = R to U
- M5 = U to C
- Flip with y2.
As stated in this memo, it's required to flip with y2 after memorizing. If you prefer to flip with x2 instead, you can adapt the memo by doing so as if the clock is upside down, so this memo goes like this:
- M1 = U + (C to R) + (C to L)
- M2 = R to C
- M3 = U to C
- M4 = L to D
- M5 = D to C
- Flip with x2.
After memorizing and flipping the clock, execute at this pin order (left hand, right hand):
- UR(M1, C to D)
- R(M2, C to L)
- D(M3, C to U)
- L(C to R, M4)
- dr(R to DR, M5)
- Solve the last 3 corners like in Flip method
- All to 12
And then, you're done!
Pros
- Always 9 moves at most
- Simple pin order
- Unlike Sheerin method, the memorized numbers in Lou are used in the first 5 moves so you don't have to remember them to the end of the solve
- Easy memorization in comparison to other no flip methods like 7-Simul
Cons
- Strict pin order
- The simultaneous moves are not intuitive and they all require following the memorized number
