2oux method
Information about the method
Proposer(s): Jeed
Proposed: 2022
Alt Names: FSOP
Variants: Roux
No. Steps: 4
No. Algs: 876 algorithms (228 OLL+2, 648 PLL+2)
Avg Moves: 40-45
Purpose(s):

2oux is a variant of the Roux method that aims for a more algorithmic approach to the last 10 pieces of the normal Roux method. Instead of using 42 CMLLs to solve the corners and then solve LSE intuitively, 2oux orients all of the pieces using roughly 170 algs and then permutes all of them using somewhere between 300-500 algs.

Steps

1. FB (First Block)

Same as Roux FB. Solve a 1x2x3 block on one side of the cube

2. SB (Second Block)

Same as Roux SB. Solve another 1x2x3 on the other side of the cube using rRUM moves.

3. OLTP (Orient Last Ten Pieces)

Use an algorithm to orient the last 4 corners and 6 edges (and 4 centers).

4. PLTP (Permute Last Ten Pieces)

Use an algorithm to permute the last 4 corners and 6 edges (and 4 centers).

Pros

  • Retains efficiency of Roux
  • Potential for high TPS
  • Could be ergonomic depending on how the algs are made/genned

Cons

  • A lot of algorithms, on par with learning the ZB method
  • Could also be not that ergonomic, as both the DF and DB edges must be affected in the majority of PLL+2

Possible Improvements

  • Not so much an improvement but lightening the load. Making PLL+2 a 2 step process might be more viable at the start. Something like CP + DB then L5EP, similar to the beginner version of the Lin method for square-one.
