The 70+ Megaminx world record changes hands...

Kate Stuart (70+ 7x7 WR2) made a PR and a double including a new 70+ world record at Mini-Sota Summer 2026: Megaminx best 4:42.88 enters the rankings at the top of the charts, beating Mats Bergsten's record by 1:12.45; and Clock best 20.32 takes her from 5th to 3rd, and average 35.37 from 5th to 4th, both ahead of Magnhild Igland Lesteberg. This is Kate's second world record of the year, as she held the 7x7 best record from February until it was claimed by Mats in June.

Sébastien Auroux enters my watchlist this week after his first comp as a senior, WCA European Championship 2026, where he competed in four events and thus made four double senior PRs: FMC mean 25.00 enters at 3rd ahead of David Roche, pushing Kazuhiko Kusano from my watchlist, and best 22 enters at 4th alongside Ge Shi, Javier Cabezuelo Sánchez, Kazuhiko Kusano, and Toshiaki Ishikura; 4x4 average 50.91 enters at 14th and best 46.41 at 19th; 5x5 best 1:29.80 enters at 23rd and average 1:45.31 at 32nd; and 3x3 best 11.51 enters at 41st and average 14.75 at 48th.

The previous day at Nanchang Summer 2026, he made a 3OH PR average 26.65 (45th to 25th), and a senior PR best 22.42 (41st to 34th).

Gunnar Kantare Krig (40+ 4x4 SWR) broke two senior world records as part of a two PRs, two senior PRs and a double at Ösmo Summer Cubing 2026: 3OH senior PR average 16.66 beats Lars Vennike Nielsson's record by 0.21s, and best 11.24 knocks exactly 1 second off Lars' previous record; Skewb senior PR best 3.47 takes him from 42nd to 8th, and average 8.43 remains ranked 46th; and 5x5 best 1:22.67 takes him from 11th to 9th ahead of AJ Nicholls, and average 1:30.93 from 12th to 11th. This is the third time the 3OH average SWR has changed hands between Gunnar and Lars this year.

Kerry Go (60+ 4x4 WR) made two PRs at Mid-Atlantic Championship 2026: Clock average 13.51 remains ranked 11th; and 2x2 best 4.15 takes him from 18th to 12th.

It would be ranked 6th in 60+ except that Mats already holds that world record from 2019. (Mats has all of the possible 60+ blindfold world records except for multiblind.) This is Mats' 18th world record so far in 2026.

Lisa Kucala (60+ Kinch #2) made two PRs at Iowa Championship 2026: 5x5 best 2:22.66 and 6x6 best 4:30.16 both remain ranked 4th.

The senior sub-10 club gained another member this week with new senior Sinpei Araki competing in 3x3 at Otsu Biwako Autumn 2026: 3x3 senior PR average 11.69 enters the rankings at 6th ahead of Gunnar Kantare Krig, and best 9.61 at 10th ahead of Ming Zheng.

Before this year only seven seniors had registered sub-10 3x3 solves, and already this year six seniors have joined the club: Gunnar Kantare Krig, Bobby Mapp, Ming Dao Ting, Sinpei Araki, Ming Zheng, and Piotr Kózka.

This week I also followed Choi Goho, AJ Nicholls, Pete Lee, and Enrymar Cisneros, who competed without making any new PRs.

I'm publishing this report a day earlier than usual so a lot of comp results haven't propagated yet. As a result no top ten results from outside my watchlist have come up on the Recent Senior Records page, and none of the exciting results described above have reached the Kinch ranking page yet.

In 40+ Kinch rankings, Pablo Say is up from 20th to 16th ahead of Modest Podzolkin, thanks to PRs in FMC and Square-1 last week.

Congratulations to all of these high achievers!

Please let me know if you know of anyone moving to a new age group who might be a candidate to join the top ranks.

Many thanks to Michael George for creating and maintaining the Senior Cubing Rankings website, and to Phil Lewis for creating the Senior Cubing Tracker site, which can be found via the Useful Links section of the SCR site.

WEEKEND COMP ROUNDUP (SEP 23-27)
A new senior 7x7 king ascends...

Glyn Brown (40+ big cubes top threes) made two double PRs including two new senior world records at Weston-super-Mare Autumn 2026: 7x7 mean 3:42.88 takes him from 3rd to top place, beating Choi Goho's record by 1.09s, and best 3:27.28 from 4th to 1st, beating Choi's record by 3.79s; and 4x4 average 52.74 takes him from 29th to 24th, and best 48.22 from 43rd to 30th.

Personally I think these are the most important records I've reported on. When I started following the senior records, it was because I was close to achieving the 50+ 7x7 records. At that time it seemed like Choi Goho's times were invincible. Choi started competing in 2008, and started on 7x7 in 2010, so he became a senior with ample experience as a youngster. Michael Stocker became a senior in 2025 and gave Choi some competition, having also had 7 years experience competing on 7x7. Glyn, on the other hand, started competing in 2023 as a senior around the same time as me, with no pre-senior competition experience. I've watched him ascend the rankings and stay focused on 7x7 as his main event. It's really something special to see someone who started competing as a senior take such a difficult world record in just a few years. Many congratulations Glyn!

Also in WSM, AJ Nicholls (40+ 3x3 WR4) made a 3BLD PR best 50.83, taking him from 20th to 17th.

Christian Sachgau (60+ Kinch #3) made a PR and a double plus PR at BLD Fall Fürth 2026: 5BLD mean 27:19 enters the 60+ rankings at 2nd, and the 50+ rankings at 5th ahead of Erik Tjong Kim Sang, and best 26:16 in the first round followed by 24:04 in the final enters the 60+ rankings at 3rd ahead of Peter Hugosson-Miller; and 3BLD average 2:35.07 remains ranked 5th. The day before at FMC Fall Fürth 2026, he made an FMC PR mean 52.67, entering the rankings at 8th ahead of Lisa Kucala, and a 60+ PR best 47, entering at 9th ahead of Jens-Christian Albrecht.

Also in Fürth, Jochen Bauer (50+ Kinch #4) made two PRs over the two comps: 3BLD average 2:20.00 remains ranked 17th, and FMC mean 43.33 takes him from 37th to 28th.

Finally from Fürth, Michael Stocker (40+ Kinch #2) made an FMC PR mean 31.33, taking him from 36th to 23rd.

Sébastien Auroux (40+ FMC WR3) made four senior PRs and four senior doubles at Kölner Kubing 2026: 2x2 best 1.95 (58th to 7th ahead of Dave Cutts); 7x7 best 3:59.78 (20th to 8th ahead of Shen Flindell) and mean 4:36.73 (enters at 13th); 6x6 mean 3:00.71 (enters at 11th) and best 2:51.51 (26th to 12th); Skewb average 6.91 (31st to 14th) and best 4.14 (41st to 17th); Clock average 8.14 (27th to 15th); 4x4 best 43.05 (21st to 18th); 5x5 average 1:37.34 (24th to 23rd); Pyraminx average 6.72 (63rd to 23rd) and best 4.28 (83rd to 29th).
