The '''Yoyleberry Method''' is an experimental novelty method for the [[Square-1]] puzzle. The method reduces the puzzle to a cubic shape and later reduces it once more to a state similar to that of the Rubik's UFO. During this part of the method, single swaps of corners and/or double-edges are possible, and the triple corner swap during other methods can be easily done in this step in comparison to more commonly used methods where the cube shape has to be undone.

The Yoyleberry Method is an experimental novelty method for the Square-1 puzzle. The method reduces the puzzle to a cubic shape and later reduces it once more to a state similar to that of the Rubik's UFO. During this part of the method, single swaps of corners and/or double-edges are possible, and the triple corner swap during other methods can be easily done in this step in comparison to more commonly used methods.

The steps

  • 1. Turn the Puzzle into a cubic shape.
  • 2. Solve Edge Orientation intuitively. Corner orientation is irrelevant in this stage.
  • 3. Bring the puzzle back into "Barrel / Barrel" shape. Consider the groups of double-edges as a single piece.
  • 4. Group each double-edge with its corresponding pair of corners.
  • 4a. Solve the first two corner-edge-corner quadruplets intuitively.
  • 4b. Use an algorithm to solve the remaining two quadruplets.
  • 5. Bring the puzzle back into a cubic shape by undoing step 3.
  • 6. Permute both layers of the puzzle.

Trivia

The name "Yoyleberry" is a reference to the animated series "Battle for Dream Island", created by Cary & Michael Huang. The yoyleberry is a fictional fruit that turns consumers into metal.
