Tobias "Toby" Mao (zh: 毛台立, pingying: máo tái lì) is a Taiwanese-American speedcuber from Hillsborough, California. He set the 3x3 single world record of 10.48 seconds in 2006. While no longer competitive, Toby was a regular volunteer for major competitions such as the US Nationals until 2013.
Trivia
- In 2006, Toby was hired to teach Will Smith how to solve a Rubik's Cube for the film The Pursuit of Happyness.
- Toby is the younger brother of Tyson Mao, also a well-known speedcuber.
Personal life
Toby graduated from Northwestern University in 2011 with a Bachelor's in mathematics. He currently works as a pharmaceutical consultant in the Bay Area.
