Note that there is no possible incorrect orientation for pieces, since the middle layer can only rotate through 180 degrees at a time (Many refer to separation as "orientation").

Square-1 is a puzzle is a very diffrent puzzle if you compare it to the rubik's cube, since it doesnt have to be cube shaped. Generally there are 2 large methods both start with the step to make it into cube-shape. From there you either permutate och orient the pieces and of course the last step is orient or permutate depending on which you already have done in first.

The Square-1 is a interesting puzzle- the concepts of other puzzles can be applied to it, however, it is unique in that corners and edges are indistinguishable to the puzzle's inner mechanism- meaning corners can be swapped with edges and therefore the puzzle can change shape. The puzzle is much easier to work with when it is in the shape of a cube so generally the first step is to somehow (there are several methods) get the pieces arranged so that the puzzle is cubic. Then, the pieces are separated into their correct layers, and permuted. Note that there is no possible incorrect orientation for pieces, since the middle layer can only rotate through 180 degrees at a time (Many refer to separation as "orientation").
