Sheerin
| ||||||||||||||||||||||
Sheerin is a No-Flip Clock method. As every no-flip method, the first step is to memorize the back side of the clock using some numbers and then solve the front side together with the back using Simul moves. In Sheerin method, most of the simul moves are done while solving the corners.
Tutorial
The memo for the back side is considered harder than the one in some other no-flip methods like Lou since it relies more on calculations then hands comparisons.
Memo:
- M1: (U - R) + (D - L)
- M2: L - D
- M3: C - U
- M4: C - L
- M5: R - M4
A way of avoiding most of these calculations is to replace them to a comparison between the hands since a given hour minus another given hour is equal to how many hours it is necessary to go from second hour to the first hour: (h1 - h2) = (h2 to h1)
This way, the new memo becomes:
- M1: (R to U) + (L to D)
- M2: D to L
- M3: U to C
- M4: L to C
- M5: R - M4
Unlike of most no-flip methods, Sheerin does not fully restrict the execution to a specific pin order.
Execution:
- Start matching C with U, L and D edges in no specific order doing 3 moves at most
- In one of those 3 moves, simultaneously execute M5 at UR wheel (UR pin and at least 2 diagonal pins must be down at this moment)
- With only L pins up, execute M1 at UR wheel while finishing the cross by matching C with R
- ur(C to UR, M2)
- dl(M3, C to DL)
- ul(M4, C to UL)
- dr(C to DR)
- Move all hands to 12
Pros
- More freedom to execute the initial steps
Cons
- Memo is relatively harder than most no-flip methods
